Hi there,

Im looking for a good RTR setup that I can pick up for a friends birthday thats around 200 bucks. Can anyone recomend somthing? I was looking at the aquacraft website and it looked like they have a couple nice boats. The supervee 27 looked like a pretty fast setup out of the box. Any thoughts? Possibly some other recomendations?

Where is the cheapest place you can find these? Cheapest I saw the super vee was around 275...

Any replies appreciated.

Brian

The SV27s are brand-new with limited distribution so far - don't expect to save much off the already-very-reasonable $275. Other good boats closer to your price range are the CEN Aquajet and the Aquacraft Hammer. The latter two are brushed motor RTRs while the SV27 is brushless. The performance difference out of the box is substantial in favor of the sv27, and IT can be hopped up cheaply to speeds above what the others can reach with similar total costs.

Go with the Aquacraft Sv27.

It needs a little tweak here and there but it's good to go outta the box.

Thanks for the info guys, Im gonna go with the SV27. Im sure he'll have a blast with it.

You/he won't be sorry... the SV27 is a SUPER entry level RTR FE boat, and not a shabby race-boat either...

Here's a little clip of mine in action in P-Mono:

SuperVee27 - Practice Laps - STOCK

SuperVee27 - Stock w/ Detongued Stock Prop - First race heat

And you should see it go with a tweaked X646 or a Prather 230! ;)
Darin,

How much run-time do you get out of your batteries with the brushless SV27? Mys Dad is looking at getting a boat, but he's not really into all the fussing around with Nitro and other types of boats, so I thought the SV27 electric would be a good one for him. Something he can have fun with without the hassles of fuel, starters, glow plug igniters and the like. Also, it looks like something I could help him run without alot of time and effort. Can you run Octura props with this boat?

Jeff.

Guys are claiming they're getting 8-10 minutes off of 4200s... I've never really just "played" with mine... It's always on the race-course, but I have pulled over 10-laps around a 1/10th mile without any trouble just to check the heat build-up... and that was with an X645... The stock setup gives LOTS of runtime...
