Am looking around for a new radio,am thinking stick radio for something different,,what is a good stick surface radio in comparison to a 4pk wheel radio?

Edit

The Futaba 4GRS is a great stick radio, not a FAAST system, but it comes with the 3314SB Telemetry Rx's (TFHSS) , or if you want the ultimate stick surface radio, Futaba's new 7XC, basically as stick verison of the 7PX and can transmit all of Futaba's Protocols.
The 4GRS is going to be a lot cheaper and the 7XC is rather pricey, but very nice, I would think the 4GRS will have more than enough functions for most of us

cheers

Shane

I have been using 2 separate 4GRS's now for several years. One is set up for FE (spring on throttle) the other for Nitro (no spring but has detent for throttle ratchet). Performance on the FHSS protocol has been great. No complaints here.

I have the 4GRS. Only been using it for the past 6-8 months or so but I have to say I am really enjoying it.

I am a very techy/geeky person by nature, but one of the things I loved most about it is the simple menu/computer system in the radio. My Dad has a T18SZ as he walked in the shop and simply said "I want the best" and that radio is frustrating to use & configure, even for me!

The only thing I wish the 4GRS did better was the timer. I have not experimented with it that much yet but it seems to be mainly focused around cars so the timer starts from when you increase the throttle. But this may just be my lack of understanding of it at the moment. I'd like to start the timing from the moment the boat hits the water. :)

Definitely the Futaba 4 GRS is the way to go. As stated earlier, the menus are intuitive to use. Fairly easy to set up and I have not had any issues as of yet. The telemetry is fairly expensive and proprietary but excellent feature. Setting the temp up to alarm at a specific temp is a must, whether you run electric or nitro... easy to switch between models too.

Well I did not know you could set a temperature alarm! I will be sure to do that on mine now! Thanks!
