Welcome Marty

I am glad you have decided to join the IW forum Marty as you have the sort of information from experience that most of us will only dream about. I am a member of the other listbot but prefer the more informal nature of this forum. I like you do not like to see things degenerate into a p!55!ng contest - but I think the competitive nature of boaters leads to this outcome far too often.

The one thing that I think this forum sometimes lacks is a little of the more technical discussion, but as an introduction to newer boaters it provides a wealth of information and friendly assistance to get people going in the right direction. I guess bottom line is nothing teaches like experience - but sometimes the shortcuts from more knowledgable boaters get us to that point a lot faster.

Anyway apart from that I hope that you would be happy to share your experience and insight on this forum and add to the knowledge pool. All the other discussion surrounding the listbot is really just a load of horse faeces and doesn't need dredging up in this friendly environment.

Lets get on with the business of boating.

Good to see you in here as yourself and not just lurking. Also good to hear your explanations (although most of us understood your position) and the fact that you are not getting rich off model boating is something most of us can relate to. If we wanted to make real big bux we wouldnt be relying on the model boat industry coz we could make 100 times the return for the same effort in other areas.

People will lock horns occasionally... no biggie. If we all thought the same there would be no need for a listbot!!!

I have a ton of respect for Marty for running the rcboat.com forum. In the very beginning of the yabbse version I made a bunch of emails to Marty suggesting ideas. Some he took some he did not...... maybe my suggestions had nothing to do with what he did..... anyways Marty is ok in my book. Brian was not in on the ground floor so to speak.... he had to learn real quick so maybe that has something to do with the problems he had. My wife was at a race with me once..... she said to me "it's like everyone has to be number one around here". Yep.... We are racers! We will butt heads from time to time. I suspect it is just a matter of time till I do something that pisses people off. I think I've been lucky so far because i'm really not very competitive as some other boaters I know. Winning is not my number 1 priority. Right now my kids are.

To tell you the truth, I enjoyed being a "LURKER" and not having responsibility. Was kind of cool. Even thought of being a trouble maker so that I could see the other side. Maybe I will be a guest most of the time and be a LURKER.
