VERY nice job, mike! you're gettin' better with each build. looks like i'll be following you as you follow john. thinking my 26 cc's ain't gonna be enough :p . oh well, got to start somewhere, & the gizmo engine is easily upgraded. i got my new tyndall turn fin today, so no testing yet. get it mounted first, i figured there was no sense in trying to tune to a fin that may be an issue........hope next weekend is as pretty as this one in our neck of the woods ;) .

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Robin, It's one of the nicest weekends we had in a few months. The average hight temp in January was higher that it was in March. I don't think you are going to miss much at test n tune tomorrow. Looks like the wind is supposed to pick up to 15-20 knows.

We're getting ready for family to come over to celebrate John's birthday. He's 15 today. One more year till he starts driving....

when john turns 16, i'll be glad you guys are on the other side of the mountain    . tell him happy B-D for me.

Happy Birthday John Robin dont worry about your motor just finish. not always fastest wins

not worried, will. just need to make laps & get used to it before i add H.P. prolly better that way, considering my driving  :p

dont worry robin i sure chilli will be scared

So guys, what are good base needle settings for the 1048? I did a search on Jim's and found a few threads but the numbers are all over the place.

run the low side at 2 1/4, high side at 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 to break in then close from those settings.

I do think that you won't want the low side less the 2 1/8 this will give you good response from low to wide open. You can then start closing the high side.

Very nice work Rick! Those needle setting are close to what I ran on my 257 but the settings on the 1048 appear to be different. My engine builder suggested 1-1/4 high and low. I ran those settings at a race all last weekend and they worked very well.
