Lohring, this is one my 101 crank failures:
This is my early CMB27 rod after crank flex meant it was hitting the crank webs on both sides of the rod, the area cooled by the incoming fuel can also be seen. This engine always ran square drive, round drive was never the cause of this problem.
So I designed a double front bearing housing in 2013, from heat treated 4140:
With this engine I use a Powerspark ignition, the sensor is attached to this front housing:
I also made the flywheel, the magnet is in the back face for the sensor to detect.
Since then I have had no issues with crank flex that I can detect!
