Come on Andy, quit teasing us and show it! I'm starting to sound like I'm in a Nudie Bar. It's not on his site yet either.

That's just WRONG, Andrew! ;) Like holding candy just out of reach of a bunch of little kids.

I have a borrowed digital cam and no card reader!!!!!

Oh hey I do have some older pics

This is the electric version (turn the cabin around & you get the idea)

Andrew,

Nice hull, I have a couple of questions.

What is is made of?

How is it made?

How much does it weigh?

What hardware does it use?

How long is it?

Did you make it?

If you didn't build it who did?

What motor are you going to use?

I will save the other questions for later.

Tim

a collaboration - the vee was a kitchen table idea which extended the idea of a single ski

The first one we did was an electric and the idea has been Xtended across the range

Tim

all my hulls are made for me by JM. This design was one of JM's with a feature or two suggested by me which he liked eg ski vee

The first one was an electric and the idea was then put onto new 90 and 3.5 riggers

What is is made of? Cf & glass/isothalic poly

How is it made?  Handlaid

How much does it weigh? 13oz with fin and transom doubler

What hardware does it use? your choice

How long is it? Length  650mm

Did you make it? I sell it

If you didn't build it who did?  I am the only point of sale of this hull

Motor  First will be a thunder tiger .12 which has been worked and uses one of our cf pipes

Hmmmmm, thought it looked familiar ;)

I was at JM's place on Thursday and saw the new longer 90 rigger going together. I had one of the earlier versions of that boat but wrote it off after a radio failure.

The V Ski rear idea was something John Finch had been talking about years ago. I'm not 100% sold on the idea but time will tell I guess.

Tim.

Looks a little narrow in stance, but could be interesting! There is a 90 like this too? how big? How much does it weigh?

I see it is another boat with bolt on sponsons. I like the idea for ease of adjustment. But how are the booms attached to the plates at the end?

Ian.

The boom tubes have a threaded insert in the ends and the plate is attached with a countersunk screw!

The new 90 tub is 4 inches longer in the afterplane than the older version. Dont know the total length but engine to drive dog was 31 inches - I checked that when I saw it.

Couldn't tell you the weight as it wasn't finished.

Tim,

The reason I ask about the boom and plate joint is I like the idea of bolt on sponsons from the point of view of adjustability but I think there are structural problems with doing it. Holding a plate to the end of a small diameter boom with a single screw is not a very rigid setup. I know because I have a boat with that setup! So I keep asking to see if anyone has come up with a better way... :-

Hmm, I have never seen the old version either! How would the size compare to my little 'bird?

I do not have any structural problems with bolt on sponsons, I use them on my .45 / .21 / .12 riggers.

Bolt on sponsons are nothing unusual here, I have seen even .90 riggers with bolt on sponsons years ago.

As tim says

the sponsons are bolted

withthe .12 and electric we played with a few options before settling where we are now and the sponsons are very solid.

Tim will tell you Johns boats have always been fast. The sponsons are too narrow??? hel I had to argue like to hell; to get width in lol

it may also be an illusion caused by the relatively long sponsons

Ian,

I tested the strength of this sponson securing method the hard way. I hit a vertical sandstone wall with it at over 100k's - the tubes bent 90 degrees but the single screw didn't fail! It isn't as light as glass booms though :'(

It is larger than the 'bird - closer to say an SG90 in length.
