A lot of scale hulls do not have rails. It's just another option.

Actually Wayne this style of mounting uses the isolation (Lords) mounts the way they were intended to be used, vertically. Granted we've all grown accustomed to seeing them horizontally but this style is definitely better in applications that can fit this type of mount like scale and sport boats.

The mount with engine is 4 1/8" wide and 4 1/16" long
