LED HD,(Samsung)Best Buy online, how big of a room ? or distance you would be sitting from the screen ?

NO plasma or LCD (they are cheaper, but old school by todays standard)

Yes, and of course a Sony Blueray, view photos, from a cd,dvd, stick

This was my winter project (pre-holidays) 2010, cabinets,mantle,60" er.

For sure go LED as they are way better as far as efficiency and everything else for that matter! !! Might as well get 1080 but the price will go up!!! The bigger the screen gets you will want to up the refresh rate But then again a LCD will also be nice if you have a dinosaur tv like mine!!!!

1080 is a waste most of the time if your just watching cable/dish. I think there are only currently a hand ful of cable/dish companies in the entire united states that broadcast in 1080. Most are 720

I still have a 52" Samsung DLP in the living room. LOVE IT! We have an LED in the bedroom, and it rivals it hand down. I dont see myself upgrading until this one poops out, or something drastically different comes along.

I watch a lot of blue rays and the hd graphics and refresh rate is amazing.

Sony Bravia for me, Love the picture, 240 HZ and the HD feed from Direct TV just amazing. I think it is all personal preference these days.

Like Joe said.

Sammy LED 1080, anything above 120 hz. So if you do watch Blu Rays or have an outstanding TV service provider you will be set. I have mine hooked to a fancy reciever so I can upscale the video if needed. No matter what anything is better than the old CRT standard def stuff.

I bought a 48" to fit my room.. should have got a 55"

USE HDMI to hook up everything.

Last I checked these were good brands. Sammysung, Panasonic, Toshiba. I heard LG and Vizio have Samsung panels, not verifyed.

I looked at a Sharp at the store, came back the next day and it blew up on the sales floor between visits, they were bringing a new one out at the time and when they pulled it out of the box the back panel was not in place. Bought the Samsung instead, paid more but I think it was worth it.

Good point, quality HDMI cables a must, you may need to check, but I believe it is all 1080p/240hz today, I saw the same 60" that I have at Costco last week for 1800.00, thats 700.00 cheaper than 2010, I think I'll get another 60 for the boat room.

Yes they are mostly 240 hz.. I went through the same deal. Saw a Samsung 60 something incher for about 150 bucks more than my 48ter,, when I bought the 48ter the difference in Cost was MUCH wider.

Take the 60 you have now, put that in the boat room and get a 70'' for the family room :)

vizio and lg quit right after the warranty runs out

i have a sony dlp that has the bulb blow once a year.get em on ebay now for 1/4 the price

i have 2 samsungs,a 32 and a 46.the hd channels are breathtaking.the sony can't compare.

buy the biggest you can afford.i sit 11 feet from the 55 inch sony, and a 60 inch wouldn't be too big

This may seam quit stupid but go to a local Sears and buy it.

There prices in the store can not be beat.

Also there extended warranty is the best investment you will ever make.

Panasonic plasma 60" 1080 is what I got more than 7 years ago and it has never gave me a problem.

Think it was $2200 with the warranty back then. I up the warranty every time it expires. not much to up it. %100 coverage includes replacement if it is not fixable.

LED is hard to see if it is a bright room with direct sun. Plasma is much brighter.

Also you can put a SD card right in the front and look at what ever is on it.

I bought mine from Sears, 15 bucks more than Tiger Direct or anyone ship it.

You mean like the clock at the Winternats last year :) ?

Are not plasmas soon to be illegal due to the power consumption, they may come and take that thing away if it lives too long. .....just kidding. ( I heard a sales guy tell that to a customer who was looking at a plasma) :) Panasonic makes one of the best Plasmas out there.

My sammy LED is dim with the "energy feature" turned on, it is always looking for minimal lite needed to create a picture. When I turn it off or set it to "daylight" mode it seems to have enough brightness.
