It's interesting to note that a 6.0 volt NiMh pack will read 6.6 volts at full charge. A 6.6 volt LiFe pack reads the same at full charge.

With that being said, I had to run the above voltage regulator when using my Eagle Tree data logger with 6.6 volt LiFe packs, but not the "6.6 volt" NiMh packs. The logger would not work at all with the slightly higher voltage of the LiFe pack. I'm thinking that once a load is applied to the "6.6 volt" NiMh pack, the voltage actually drops a little. Where as the LiFe probably not.

More then a little.. I have wrote NiMH packs off a few years ago. (no more for me)

Its not the voltage its the life cycle. (know what I mean)

The use of 4cells NiCad or 4 cells Dry.. thats about the best for LV servos.. yes.. 5 NiMH are OK too but...

Just to keep things simple.. if you are using a 2S Life or 2S Lipo it is my position (Futaba Marine) you need (its best, you should, I highly recommend it) to regulate the voltage to low voltage servos or your servos will (can, might, did on me!) prematurely fail.

Grim..
