i need info on what brand is most popular. and other info anyone has on what i should i have on trailor. except for like shelves, bench, cabnets i plan to buy a 6X10 or 6X12. it will be doing double duty for my offroad racing and for boats.

Keep in mind the height of the trailer. It sucks always being crouched over. I think they make them 7' in height.

Also take in consideration if you want barn doors or ramp.

Trailers can also be flat or angled in the front. I like the angle so you can put a corner cabinet in to the right of the side door.

I found the prices here worth a 400 mile drive for me. They also were reasonable on making changes. For me it was a little thing like putting the side door on the left, as I park it on the right side of my garage and have easy access. You'll get a lot of opinions on trailers. Everyone has specific needs. A V-nose gets better mileage as does a lower height.. If you plan to walk in and work get the extra height (not expensive). I went with the lower to fit in my garage as parking outside with $$$$ of equipment makes an easy target. A sharp butter knife will carve a hole through the roof. With a smaller trailer(5X8) I find we can reach most everything from the side or rear doors. A couple pics for ideas. Remeber if you letter it with XYZ Racing in big letters it attracts theives. Biohazard stickers may be be better.

thanks for the info. i going to put a work bench on left in front with cabnet above bench and shelves on the left rear. i was going to get air conditioner but it was way to expensive. i going with the ramp door for the boats.

what would you guys suggest for on the floor to cover the wood. also how hard is it to install the bench shelves and caninets also outlets for a/c to a generator. what about the axle or springs anything with that i dont want it to be bouncing going down the highway

look into rubber torsion suspension, will. no axles or springs, lower ride height, less swaying & bouncing, less weight, & less/easier maintainence or repiar. i've had trailers big & small with traditional springs & rubber torsion - no comparison.

Go with 16 inch on center ribs alot stronger than standard 24 on center and also torsion axle over leaf spring alot smoother ride you might also think about brakes my old trailer with out brakes shure made it hard to stop my blazer while pulling trailer

I'm picking up a 6x12 next weekend in Winchester William. I'm really surpised how expensive used trailers are going for in the area. It's hard to find a 6x12 under $1800. I think I got a pretty good deal. I'm paying $1600 for a 10 year old Pace. It's in very good shape, has a painted grey epoxy floor and tons of tie downs. Wish it were a V nose though. One thing is for sure. I'm not going to miss loading seven boats, canopy, tools and generator in the Suburban after each day of racing!! LOL

BTW- Glad to have you back racing this year!!

I have a 5X10 tall. Side door and swing open rear.

Has to triple as a Boat, Rocket and Heli trailer. I love it!

Remember the tow car or truck, the smaller the engine the less gas milage and the struggle to get up and down the mountians or hills. just like boat racing you meed HP.

I've got a Haulmark, love it and it's one of the better sellers around here. Dealers can option it out for you. I've got double doors but it sounds like you need a drop-down.

If you have one of those area auto, boat and RV trade papers your neck of the woods, check them out. I found my trailer 50 miles away at a dealer just across an overpass from our club pond that had the best prices that I found in Michigan. I could have driven about the same distance to Indiana as a lot of trailer manufacturers are just on the other side of the border.

How does insurance usually work with our toy haulers? Both liability and contents??

Liabilty to do damage with the trailer goes with the auto pulling the trailer. It is an extension of the vehicle.(non comercial) If someone borrows or pulls your trailer it follows to his auto policy. Physical damage to the trailer is covered by adding the trailer to your auto policy for comprehensive and collision coverage. This doesn't extend to someone else pulling it. Contents of the trailer is covered by your homeowners, renters, or condo policy as personal property. Check with your agent for any specific limitations as all policies are not the same. This all applies to personal lines policies and commercial policies are different as things are more specifically defined to the needs of the enterprise.
