Thank you Ken! Would have been a lot easier project if this boat was known to run with a cowl. I know they attempted it in some test runs or maybe one heat but didn’t work out. I couldn’t see mounting the CMB in the normal angled position because for one it would be too high and too far back. So I cut a hole and put a belly pan in and mounted the motor lower and level. This way it appears a little more scale. It’s been an adventure. We will see how it runs.

Thanks! Not sure either the info is kinda sketchy on if it actually ran an official heat but at this point she’s gonna be showing off that engine. The more I look at the cowling, it has some unique features so it would be a challenge in its own rite.

IIRC, the boat did run a few early races(like the new Miss Madison in 1988) with the cowl on it. The cowl was later used by the Qatar team at the Gold Cup after the crash with the Oberto in 2011 in the final heat at Madison. I've been looking for video footage showing the boat with the cowl but haven't been able to find anything from 2002. Everything I've found has been 2003 or later and didn't show the cowl
