Chris that is almost exactly what I'm making out of PVC right now too. I also thought about a pivoting motor mount to simplify things but was wondering about the prop clearances when at full lock. Do you find your set up works okay? Anything you would change with it?
Would like to see what you came up with for a pivot mechanism.
Great idea not gluing it all together for take down purposes.
The one I'm making is around 23" wide to accommodate my 60" cat.
I'm thinking of using a 60 size motor on mine.
Thanks for sharing.

It all works fine and does what it was built to do!

Chris,
A friend of mine built one many years ago that is very similar. As a performance add on he took plastic gutters and made runners for the pontoons that curved up in front to match the foam. I only saw it with the runners on and it was faster than most retrieve boats fro shore to boat but did take time returning. Your drive system is very clean a safe looking. Nice work.

Several here in Tucson group
I built a twin Tuggie from Zippkits it can push or pull have a long cord with a float at end ,circle dead boat come in close and it usually snags to pull it in.
Its not fast but you dont need fast
one is an airboat like the one shown above its a pusher
One is a gas boat with a weed eater motor with a clutch. It has a section of PVC on a shaft and around the prop so it can steer in close. Rudder on that set up was not as good. Pvc is like nozzle as it steers. Next time im down there ill try to get a picture. That boat drags a float too.
These all work to push or pull Gas boats as that is almost all they run here.
Good group of guys, they let me run nitro on practice days
