All the NAMBA District 8 clubs were represented at the district meeting. A very large group from ERCU has joined NAMBA bringing 1/10 scale electric racing into NAMBA. Because of the large and active group of NAMBA electric racers in the district, I have appointed Jim Bickford as the district's electric chairman. He will serve as a direct link between the electric racers and me so we can be sure their voice is heard. I expect the big issue will be crafting 1/10 electric scale rules for submission to NAMBA at the end of the year. Scale racing is exceptionally large in the district and I hope the experience of the 1/8 scale clubs as well as the electric racers can be combined to make an outstanding national electric racing class.

I doubt they care one bit about setting up some national rules for 1/10th scale racing. It's is a whole different mentality (ERCU or Ct) than Namba FE racing. I am sure they are happy with what they already have for rules but they mostly needed the Insurance coverage from Namba.

If anyone wants 1/10 scale to be a national event, there need to be national rules. The class is being considered as a special electric demonstration class at several major races. NAMBA insurance is a major reason to join, but participation in national level racing is good publicity unless you want to hide electrics from the rest of model boating world. The scale races at the 2007 Electric Nationals was very impressive to several nitro racers who attended.

Lohring,

I agree with you here, but I think it's going to take some major coordination with the current 1/10th guys joining to get this to happen... Basically, I suspect that if NAMBA doesn't just flatly adopt their existing rules, there is going to be some bitter feelings amongst this newly joined group... They do what they do, and aren't likely going to let others tell them otherwise...

Here are their current (2007) rules: http://www.e-rcu.org/E_Rules%202007.pdf

I would think it prudent to get them involved in making these rules work on a NATIONAL level, if they have any interest in doing such a thing...

If anyone in the NW is interested in racing 1/10th amongst other NAMBA classes... PSFEMBC has a 1/10th class, basically built around E-RCU rules... though I think most in our club are using the SV27 power system... We'd love to have you...

The point is that I seriously doubt you will see many if any ERCU members traveling to a national event to run one class. It happened last year because it was in our back yard. Now you may see a couple build special boats for saws competition. I know two have talked about that and one boat is is progress.
