Well after the Toledo run, where my wife drove a 3.5 deep-v, she admitted to me that she really liked it even though the weather was less than great (at least it wasn't raining). I have been looking for a boat for her, but never found one that she really liked. Finally I showed her the John Finch's "Wild Thing" & I asked her if she would like me to build her one of those from scratch. She said that was a great idea & she said that it would be even better since I would build it just for her as apposed to getting her something used. She also really likes the name, it fits her well!! LOL!! ;-)

I ordered the wood & plans last week. I got the wood today, & now I am just waiting on the plans. I can't wait to get started!!

My 1st question. I noticed that in the construction article that the plans don't use a strut. I am going to set this up for sport running, not racing. Would a strut be easier to adjust & be more durable? Or should I stick to the plans?

Oh Boy! Eric has someone to race against!

Yes, The Wild Thing moniker fits Missy to a T.

If you run into any snags, let me know. A guy that lives just a mile North of me, Dave Homer, built one. Dave might have his plans yet. He has also built several of J.D.'s tunnels for his kids.

Ron, I will keep hi in mind.

Question #2

What would be a decent cheep most likely used .21 engine for it? Something that I can still get parts for if it breaks. I figure used, because my pockets aren’t that deep.

I wonder if Hammer still has those .21's, they were a prety good deal.

Mike

Wade I can make you a deal on a Nova-Rossi 21.

I need your E-Mail address as my puter dumped and I had to by new one. Scott

Wade, there you go! Scott's got some nice motors and he's just down the road a little on the other side of town. That Picco I got from him is sweet! It's the one that I ran in Toledo.

Ya, Scott takes good care of his boat stuff. I wouldn't have any problem getting one of his used engines site-unseen.

I finally got the plans last night. It looks really simple to build. It defiantly has very few parts to cut out. I can't wait to get started! :D

thats really cool wade.. can't wait to see her run it.. maybe spring in kzoo or whereever :)

Well, I figured I would bring this one back up. I'm almost done. I have to make some turn(spin)fins, mount the hardware, & install the radio. I will take some pics of it soon. It will be ready for the fun run!! :D

AHH, now that is a surprise!!! ;) lets just say that it fits her personality!! LOL!! I'll post a pic tonight when I get home.

That I've gotta see! I've been trying to think of what color fits her. Only one so far but I'll wait to see if I'm right.

Well here you are. :D

I have the engine & fuel tank mounted, & I have the holes drilled for the hardware.
