I was just surfing his clubs website and saw it with the nova rossi

the top one I have seen before. It is his newest 12 design. He built it about 6 months ago or so.

The new Hammerhead .12 was the one that he said was harder to launch.

Wade, look at the decals on the HH .21, aren't those the ones that we sent him with the numbers swapped?

That one pic looks to be from japan.

Not cause of the people in it. But look at that .21s set up. WHOS Pipe is that?

whats with the fuel tank or hopper tank near the engine?

IS that a selfoiler for shaft? I have one on my cat, but never seen it on a rigger.

and a AM radio, I have never seen guys run a AM on a boat around me.

Hey guys I have a question about the air cooled heads on your .12-.15 motors. First understand I do not have any experience with these motors, never even had the chance to inspect one. So here goes, aren`t those heads a little on the heavy side? I mean it seems to me that a water cooled head would be the way to go. Lighter, less air resistance. Aren`t all these .12-.15 motors designed to run under a body- reason for such a big heat-sink. From what little I know a .21 will almost run with no cooling at all, so seems to me a .12-.15 would need next to nothing as far as cooling. Anyhow every time I see a picture of one of those little boats that thought crosses my mind so I thought I would ask.

Ron, I think you are right!! LOL

I wonder what happened to the rigger that I built, I might have to email him. :p

Kevin, good questions. We use the air-cooled heads because they don't get hot enough to use water cooling. This is the same reason why K&B went to it on their 3.5 SS motors.

The heat sink head can have some fins removed. I took 3 off the top of one of my motors and I didn't see any difference in the head temp so possibly more can be removed. I heard that Preston Hall has little more than some metal holding his head button in place and has no problems. We don't have the problems with heat build-up in the boats like what the car and truck people do as mine are out in the open and getting cooler air from the water.

Tom, I have an idea that that is his fuel tank. He is probably working on the theory of having it over the CG so that it does not change as the tank empties. It is mounted kind of high though.

New Hammerhead .12 isn't harder to launch. It is harder to drive because it is so much faster than the last one. I ran it last Sunday with a 1640 that was worked. Got it almost to 100km/h 98.3 on the radar. It screams. Nothin' better that the new 5 port NR.

That is flying!!! Is it a stock NR, or did you have it worked? I can't imagine a .12 size rigger going that fast!!

"so seems to me a .12-.15 would need next to nothing as far as cooling."

In a boat application that's very true. Preston's .12 in his record boat had next to nothing for cooling. Also, a number of years ago Rod Geraghty modded a CMB 21TT outboard motor for me & I took the CMB car air cooling head & cut about 2/3rds off of it & ran just that, no water. Man that thing was a killer motor, engine temps were always right on......... B)
