I have an epoxy hull that I need to mount a canard wing on the front of and I’m looking for some clever ideas to do this. I’m trying to make it removable as well as adjustable. My problem is that I don’t have access to the inside of the sponsons unless I cut into them, then come back and do some patch work after I install some sort of mounting blocks.

Any ideas????

I have always used plastic shelf pegs as at some point the canard will get knocked off

Some people use the dubro pastic angles to mount them. They just screw into the side of sponson and then screw threw bottom of canard. Cant find a link to them. THey might not make those anymore. Could always make some from 1/16 aluminum angle as well.

I will get a number if I still have a package. Mine are longer than this

I understand what your doing now Mike.
I guess the issue that I have it that the inside of the sponsons is just some light weight cloth with epoxy resin and nothing else on the inside to support anything. It may be thicker than I was thinking, I have not put a hole in it yet. I’ll play with it a little more this evening and see what I can do.

Thanks guys.

It’s hard to tell just by looking at it from the outside but there may be a piece of plywood inside the sponsons. I tried emailing the manufacturer but he has not responded to me yet.

Looks more like carbon fiber than ply to me. Then again, it's hard to really tell with the filler on the inside of the sponson

You can always drill a hole and flare some brass tube that fits the bracket then use a syringe to inject a milled glass and epoxy mixture to strengthen the area up

I have used well nuts in the past. Drill a hole, insert the rubber well nut and it expands and holds as you screw into it. Then on the underside of the canard I use 1/16 alum angle and cut little brackets.
