While sifting through the many archives for info on building a 21 rigger, I noticed I do not see anybody using the mongoose rigger from GHP. It looks to be a nice boat and the review in rcbm a couple years back seemed to think it was. I just wondered why It never shows up here.

Does anybody have one or have experience with one.

I recently inquired about it at ghp. The kit is still available but has gone up considerably. 179.99. Tack the shipping and exchange on for canada and it adds up to quite a bit of change. Too much I thought for a kit!!

:D I ran a "A" Mongoose rigger for the last four years and have had super succes with it. The ones I had (sold them both this year) were of Andy Brown's design. I had widened the sponsons to give more stsbility and it made the hull even more controlable and faster in the corners without losing straight away speed, I consistantly beat the Eagle in heat racing (when I had the needle right) a very consistant and predictable design. I almost wish I didnt sell them. I still haev a 67/80 Mongoose in the garage. I run a Jag hulls so I have yet to race this one. But i did test with a Rossi .65 and was very happy with it.

I'm not sucking up but Tom's boat ought to be a lot better deal plus you can get it in Canada.

From the review that I saw on it in RCBM, it didn't look quite right as the motor sits pretty far back in the hull.

The one we are talking about is a Mongoose from another company. It didn't look like it rode right in the water either and the speeds weren't that great.

Remember, you'll never see a bad review of any boat in RCBM, no matter how bad it is.

Well I agree that the ff.21 is cheaper and easier to get. That's a big part of the reason I didn't bother to order the MG. kit. I do like the look of the one reviewed but I suppose it's true that their coments should be taken for what they are. They wouldn't get much advertising if they were trashing the products being sold...lol. :p

Not to get off subject but there are writers in there that I trust, most of them members in here. There are what I'd consider "unknowns" that contribute articles and wonder what's going on. Some have got their heads up their derrieres when they write. The one that still sticks out in my mind is the Shockwave Gas boat review. OK, I'm certainly no expert on Gas boats but I know a water-cooled Zenoah when I see one. The article and caption by the photo stated that it was air-cooled and that you could run it a long time out of the water without worry of overheating it.

I agree with Ron. Im my opinion,The RCBM mag is more geared to the leaisure boat modeler vice all out heat racing.Anyways, back on the subject....

I drove my buddies mongoose twice and I it ran okay. I do know that he swapped out the sponsons with a wider one to keep the speed up in the corners. Other than that, I wasnt overly impressed nor was I dissappointed. :p
