hey guy i made a big oops. I played with my pull starter and the spring sprung. Is there a way to recoil the spring or is it shot? :(

It can be wound back up it simply takes the following.

Patients

And time.

It is easier for most to buy a new one, but it can be done.

Alden

I ordered a new one ,but i am going to try rewinding the old one if i can . i will use the old one for back up .

is there any tricks or tip on rewinding it because it tried and i failed

byron, i wish i could tell you there is a easy way to do it but there isnt...you could try using like bread tie's to hold the spring while your winding it. also leave the ties on the spring when you put it in the housing,,then slide them out carefully.. trick is to make it as small as possible the first time you wind it.. it is a royal pain in the butt..keep at it and you should succeed!!!! hope you do...

It could be but try cleaning it.. Use a paper towel and feed it through the bearing,,spin it both ways. Then use a little alcohol and do the same thing. Then a lite lube with after run oil..dont drench it. Also be sure you didnt forget to put the brass spacer on the pto shaft.

Strange,, you sure you put the pulley in the right way?? There is a arrow on it. When you pull it,it should spin that direction..did you have issues with it before??

no differance ?
I would ditch to pull starter and put a belt starter on it....I'm very glad I'd switch over..shouldve done that in 07 in the first place..

Well if he wanted to run in a stock class he WOULD have to have one miss.

[/quoteSome of the vegas that ran RTR classes didnt have pull starters in there vegas plus they ran after market fuel tanks too.. it mainly up to the club on those rules as what I'm being told...

that is true miss h, but that doesn't mean he couldn't just put a belt on and not use the pull start! that's what i do.

why having the extra drag on the motor for? Thats what pull starters to and that also can rob you some power too.You need to get any extra power you can get out of your motor..

because like my last post said I HAVE to have the pull start on for stock class. Simple solution for a hard starting motor is to put the belt on, not only will it help for a tough motor but you don't have to worry about breaking your pull start and being stuck with a dead boat.

thats true..But I shouldve lisened to Ron Olson and Piper Chuck and HJ long ago to switch over to belt start..I bet there going to ease up on the rtr rules..since I'm see them running after maket fuel tanks and some with belt starts too.

Miss Hydro is right put that starter belt on plus it is legal in both impba and namba you are not changing anything as far as modding the RTR
