Are the powers to be deleting members posts. I read one this morning that has disappeared. Maybe because the person stated how they feel about the hobby.

Yup "the powers that be" received a bunch of complaints about the threads original content and the negativity it was bringing to the forum. If that person feels so much discontent for the hobby and the people in it then maybe they need to find a new one................

I don't like the idea of deleting anyones post. I agree with some of the things said, and saw a lot of replies. Some for and some against. Everyone has an opinion , let them state it.

Sorry you feel that way but when prominent well respected boaters who RARELY complain about anything started contacting me about it I went back and re-read the opening post, thought about it and agreed with them. This is not Facebook or any of that other wide open social media, it is a private forum and will be handled as such. Perhaps some of you have short memories, the last time a thread similar to this went way south as this one was looking to do you all came real close to having no forum when Tom was ready to pull the plug on the whole thing.................

It does disturb me some that you pull a post because some people complain. I realize this is a private board but still you are controlling what people can say on this board which is not always a good thing. Once again if it was obscene, violent, threatening. or derogatory to anyone then by all means delete it but because you don't agree with it or if someone complains then I think it is wrong to remove a post.

Could I suggest an alternative to just pulling posts? Rather than just pulling a post, would it be better to leave the post's location but edit out the post with the reason it was removed? In this way, others would know why a post was removed and not be questioning the "powers that be" about why. What do you think about this option, Don?

if your not happy with the hobby then leave or do something different. Putting publicly that your mad or things you dont like about the hobby. This is RC boat racing plus a RC Boat discussion Forum and yes theres a lot of people that are friends here but recently theres been so much drama its just crazy.

Actually, they did leave the hobby. I think they were more explaining why than anything else

intlwaters goal is to promote the hobby. Moderators attacking members does not accomplish that goal. It was necessary to do some housekeeping. We have been doing this for over 20 years now. Running this site, and keeping it going in the right direction is no easy feat. I think we have a good formula here and it was necessary to apply it so the forum could move forward. The hobby is better off without the post being left for everyone to read. It was not going to promote rc boating or help the forum. We are not hiding what we did. We immediately fessed up to it.

When JBD was redone after there problems with the sight thy posted the new rules for all the members to abide by.

It is very clear what is and is not allowed on the new sight.

This has made a big difference on how things are posted on there now.

If every one is aware of the rules and thy are enforced the same for all it may help with the job of moderating a form.

Just a suggestion.

It is not the job of Tom, Jim or any of the others who run forums to provide a soapbox to rest of the world, let alone someone's disgruntled parting shots. They have been kind enough to make places that we can hopefully enjoy our hobby together.

I'm glad it was pulled down. There was nothing useful going to come out of that post.
