Well to each their own. The reason I changed over to the magnetic was because of issues with the very old school push/pull switch. For me its been very well worth it. I can't think of a good reason why anyone would drill another hole in their radio box to install an exposed switch when you can have a completely sealed system. I have 5 of these magnetic switches that have bounced from boat to boat over the years and have not had a single problem.

The only downsides I found so far using one is that the retrieve boat guys can't turn off your receiver, and you sometimes don't know if you have successfully switched it on/off. I always just wiggle my rudder or throttle on my radio to double check the status. If you use the led indicator outside the radio box then you won't have that problem. But then again you just created an extra hole in your radio box. Or you can use a lexan lid and see the led blinking inside the box. I used the electrotek at first, then switched to a smaller one made by a German company called Emcotec. I only changed to the smaller one because its in a JAE 12. I also put a small sticker on the outside of the hull to mark where the magnet needs to be waved over to work the switch. Lastly I got a magnetic pickup tool with a pocket clip so I don't loose the small magnet included with the switch.

I had one but small issue reason pitman pull Sullivan start up how to touch or bump on tub then switch turn off by self

I was figured out that Sullivan starter has two magnets that's why
