I am in the process of building a phil thomas sport 40 and the hard stuff is all done and it's almost ready for primer and paint.

I have a freshened up mac 45 from the previous owner with an andy brown parabolic pipe and i was wondering because i really do not like the mac carbs and mac parts are getting harder to come buy would i be better of to put an o.s. carb like some suggest( 40E)

or just sell the mac or trade it for something like a good used 45 cmb rs which i have heard good things about..

some guys really like the mac 45 and i have not even run it but it is very smooth and apparently andy brown freshened it up for the previous owner.

what would you guys that have experirnce with the 45's think.

It won't get finished this summer so i have some time to get it worked out. ;)

CMB45RS!!!! I have 2 stock ones and do not plan on modifying them. They flat haul the mail. Everything you heard about them is true. Not much need for spare parts.

I have a MAC 45 in my SS45 and it goes pretty darned well. I've also got one in my 45 RR and it too goes pretty well. Parts are certainly an issue, but they're less likely to blow parts like an OS or OPS might.

I'd like to be first in line if you decide to sell the MAC45. I'd be interested in the pipe, too!

Run the MAC. You already have it and it will run just as good as a CMB RS once everything is set up and dialed in. I have an RS 45 in my PT sport 40 now, and while it does run good, I have a MAC 45 that ran just as good before the P/S totally wore out.
