What is a good solvent or chemical to soak some nitro carburetors and engine blockmin to relieve the lockup conditions? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks Ted

Soaking them in boiling water usually does the trick

Try Nitro solvent gun cleaner. Worked for me.

Boiling water with a little simple green mixed in works great too...

Coca Cola ......... I'm not sure if it works with Pepsi .
Will eat up all the old castor oil and then clean it with WD40 .

I avoid using caustic or solvent as they will blacken the aluminum parts if you are not careful. Tiny pitting on the aluminum surface make it appear black.

I spray some WD-40 or MMO into the engine and then wrap it in aluminum foil. I then put the parts on my car engine block when i come home from work. The heat will soften the gum (likely castor oil) and allow you to disassemble the parts.

Marvel Mystery Oil worked very well for me...had a stuck carb...2 days later loose​

Goof off will dissolve all old grease and sludge. Definitely my go to

Diesel fuel is very popular in the motorcycle restoration circle apparently works very well.

Crock pot with antifreeze (the green cheap stuff) slow "cook" it for 8 hours, more if really nasty. Will not harm aluminum or o rings.

The Hopps Nitro Gun 88 solvent worked spot on; My engine was gummed up by past owner neglect. Thanks to all for the help!
