Im not sure that a merger is such a great idea. Its competition that we are talking about here and the two/three organizations should compete. Makes for better boating...I think the real concern with a merger are the records and race format, also the class differences. We as people are some what reluctant to change.. IMPBA and NAMBA merging, would require one or both to change..

Still I think its best to be separate.. However closer matching classes...i could go for that.

---TB.. im busy but trust me, im not sitting still on the tunnel stuff for IMPBA----

You are heard and your input is critical to me/us..

Mike, I agree that the Orgs should try to do more to co-exist before they try to merge. We allow the other Orgs to run in our national events but I think we should do more to get them interested in local events as well. Allow them to pay a small fee to run without having to join the Org just like we do for the Nats.

N2B,

Take it from a guy who's been in the hobby for nearly 40 years, the chances of having one model boating organization in the U.S. is ZILCH!! Merging IMPBA with NAMBA would be as easy as having the Israeli and Palistinians agree to live in harmony.

But, it really doesn't matter. If you want to go race in some other area it's not all that much to join another organization. I've gone back of the Midwest and raced in probably a half dozen IMPBA events. I didn't find it that difficult to adjust to a few different racing procedures.

ONe reason the Sport rules were adopted is that IMPBA had several variations on the STOCK Rule while they had it. SOme members carried it so far they would disqualify a racer if they used locktite while at another race a racer could do almost anything they wanted there was NO consistantcy in teching motors. SO with the sport rules it is very easy to tech an engine taking some burden off the CD's. Makes racing fun for everyone.
