I posted this in the RTR section of the site although I don't really think of it as an RTR (hull, radio box, motor mount, fuel tank and stainless steel hardware only) that is how it was classified on RTR Zone.com. I posted hear only because there were some people on their asking for videos. The site went offline and then came back again. I didn't know it was back online so I thought there may be others. So in case those people that were asking me for video footage of the boat are on this site here it is.

I didn't know if racers checked out the RTR section much. I know I don't so since this is a mono I thought I would post here in this section too. For people that might be looking for another type of boat to run this may serve as an alternative. With all the usual components most racers are used to it could be a competitive option.

We were testing needle settings and glow plugs. You can see the video here.

At 649.99 it is pricey compared to other boats out there. I have talked to them about this and their response was that it comes with a carbon fiber hull, fuel tank, radio box and hardware. Don't shoot the messenger. I am just sharing what I was told. It could be that since it is a 2 Time Japanese National Champion they felt it was worth it... or they are a bit out of touch with the US R/C boating market... or people in Japan are more serious racers and don't worry about the price or they figured it was a good deal because after-all they sell a 1/8th Scale MP9 rolling buggy chassis for $10 more.

Nevertheless I have seen a view videos out there of the boat running so their are people still interested and still buying despite the price. None of them were running like this though. So for those people out there that already bought the boat or thinking of something different and don't mind the price now you can see what the potential of the boat is.

I am trying to persuade them to build a ready-to-run version. That way we can finally have a manufacturer with mass production cabilities willing to serve the R/C Nitro market with an RTR Nitro racer that is common with traditional Nitro racing. Until then here is the boat hull option.

Martin Knox (Hammerhead in here) drove the owner of OS's personal boat and loved it. He said that the strut and rudder seemed to be a little weak for him though.

It sounds like it could take some more prop Roger. The boat does appear to handle well but the rpice tag is scary. Maybe just a regular 'glas lay-up hull is needed.

I am not sure of that suggestion of running a bigger prop. I was running a bigger prop before and the RPM left something to be desired and the speed was about average. I went to a smaller diameter with similar pitch and the boat came alive. It runs on pace with the NAMBA record now for a 20 mono, which is only 5 seconds slower than the 40 mono record. I am actually looking for more RPM as this is about the Rs that my 40 mono turns. Just got a prop from Andy that I am looking to try to achieve that very thing. I did talk to Kyosho about a glass lay-up but they just don't seem to have too much interest in putting money into the boat right now. Maybe if they sold more... but I know... chicken and egg.

That is our Kaiser Cove pond located in Fremont, CA. Fremont is about about halfway between San Jose, CA and San Francisco, CA with about a 30 minute drive each way. It's also about 5 hours from the LA Area. Henry has joined us for just about every race here in Northern California as he like that we run gas and nitro classes at the same event. The site that you saw where the boat was painted is Lake Minden. A nice camp ground that kneel downs, and cracker boxes race. That site is just 20 minutes away from Sacramento, 5 hours from LA or 1.5 to 2 hours from the San Francisco Bay Area.

Oh! and I live in San Jose.

I have received requests for more video so here is another.

This is an actual heat race against a fleet of Seaducers. In this same heat My competition includes the NAMBA record holder and a Multi-National Champion and Seaducer boat rep for northern California just to give you some sense of the competition.
