KRE90/Road Runner

Completed the first bench run of my new KRE 90 powered Road Runner. There aren't many of these motors around but I was able to buy a new one here on IA. I first had the motor sent to Ralph Almirola who made me a new mount for my road Runner. John Beardslee has one and was kind enough to share his setup info and several pictures of his motor.
I purchased a 90/101 Excalibur pipe from Stump Fab and have it set at 12" for the first runs with a 1667 prop. I'm running 50% Technology fuel with 2 OZ of caster oil added for some extra break in lube, can't hurt. I set the needle with my Borris flow meter to get a good rich needle . The motor started and ran nice and fat with lots of smoke indicating a good mixture. The first run was for less than a minute checking for heat, I then let the motor cool for about 25 minutes. The next run was for about a minute, a little richer and nice and cool.
The motor should be now ready for some rich runs at the lake. I did tear the motor down after the bench runs and everything looked perfect. The first test will be at the Huntsville Nationals in Oct and New Orleans in November.

I use castor in all my fuels including my gas boats.Nice clean setup on motor.

Ran almost a gallon of 50% through the KRE 90 today at the lake. Everything went well with the Excalibur pipe at 12" and a 1667 prop. I think I'm ready to lean it out some set the pipe at 11 3/4.

The blue head and s a Cmb
The red head is a KRE

ABC 2717 and take another video.

Hi Mark is the 2717 more prop than the 1667 or less? I have 2 1667s , one is 61mm and the other is pitched up with stock diameter I believe.

2.7" is 68.58mm....so yes on the size. Also pitch ratio is higher. 1.6 to 1.7. I believe blade area is smaller.

Just received a nice 2717 from Bob English and a NR 50904 90 pipe to try for the next outing. I'm hoping to atleast run my RR at the Huntsville NAMBA Nationals in Oct, open water. I will also be at the VooDoo race and Brandon for some sun and nitro. Lots of great NAMBA/ IMPBA races out there!!

Allan, the most recent news is Bob Londress took 2nd place at the Evansville race with his 90 KRE powered SST hydro.
