I have a Jag 2 with CMB cube. the strut has to be set and as these are very high set transom i can not see it being set up as per a normal 4 piont hydro. what is the corect setting fot this boat. Is it set flush with the rear sponsons or will the strut run lower than the sponsons. also the pipe length seems fairly long it has a Macs 15cc pipe set at about 13 1/2 inches from the plug to the widest point of the pipe.

Thanks

Dave

JAG 2 CMB CUBE is it enough to catch NITROCRAZED???????? to be continued.

Dave,

Need some more information. I can only assume that since you are using a MAC 15cc pipe you have a CMB 90. Is that correct and has it been modified to any degree? I have a highly modified CMB 90 with a MAC 15cc pipe in a Roadrunner. Pipe length is between 11.5 and 12.0" with 50% nitro.

Not sure were the Jag strut should be. Could be any where from the strut bottom being 1/8" above the bottom of the sponsons to the middle of the staft being in between the middle of the rear sponsons. Where have you been so far?

Dave,

In a word - no. B) I clocked Ians boat at 150kph (90mph) in Finley.

Why aren't you using a Salisbury pipe? :D Mac's pipe @ 12 1/2" on a CMB 100 would be a good start. Shorten from there if needed but don't go too crazy.

Tim.

In aswering all the CMB is a Cube and i do have a BIG BLACK  carbon pipe ready to go on. I need to test as it came with the Mac 15cc pipe first before fitting the Salisbury Power Pipe. I will have to build Ian a new pipe ;) that has been modified to let me win!!!! BUT DONT TELL IAN!! :p

I have the strut set 1/8 below the rear sponsons for the moment as ther is not mutch adjustment from here i suspect this is where it should be. The Mac pipe is not what i want to run but this boat was supposed to be quick with it.

The boat came with a H32 prop and i intend to try a V967 that i did for my Gas rigger. Unfortunately i will probably only get to test it in a couple of weeks when Ian & I go out for a serious test session before the next race meeting.

Thanks to all

Dave

I have seen Dave's rigger. He only recently bought it second hand and hasnt run it yet.

The bottom of the Jag 2 tub curves up quite a bit at the rear. The rear sponsons are not very deep, and putting a long ruler on the flat section of the bottom of the tub under the engine showes the prop shaft to be almost level with the ruler, which is quite different to normal hydro setups.

Thus with the boat riding on the front sponsons and the bottom of the strut the tub would not be level with the water, it would run with quite an angle. Is this usual for Jag 2's? If the strut is lowered down to level up the tub then the strut would be a fair way below the rear sponsons. If it is supposed to run as it is now then the turn fin will need to be re-aligned for the ride attitude of the tub.

The engine is a CMB 100 purple head, the prop is a cut and cupped H38.

Ian.

Tim,

CMB 100 pipe will be on the list of pipes to do, when we get the chance! After the G260 pipe, new K-90 pipe, and K67 pipe..... B)

We do have a good old P92 to try tho, that should be pretty good. :)

I'll just have to get Dave to do a 'Rubens' and stay behind me! :p

Newsflash!

Rubens TQ'ed and won on the weekend.

Is that a sign?

Ian and I should have a couple of volunteers for our test session on Saturday, hopefully we can run at the same time. I have not raced against Ian for a few years  . I ran the boat and have just been sorting out the usual setup problems but it looks promising. especially when i put the Carbon pipe on. the V967 was a bit agressive but i had an unstable fuel mixture so i will have to test it again.

regards

Dave

You can take that V967 and aggressively leave it for the gas boats....

had little success with V967s on 90 riggers due to bending blades and too much lift sending the nose into the water a few timws (we thought that was impossible for a 90 Stinger to go in nose first).....

Oh and I might even take my Wizard out this weekend :) Have an old CMB 90 (pre evo) with an exhaust throttle waiting to have a spin... :)

hehehe well it is a Silver GP90... Almost have enough parts to do a 90evo as well apart from a back plate and carb. Could machine one up I spose... :)

Next you will want me to put a cube in the bird!!!!! only crazy people do that....

Ya know a 67 bird would make a really good 45 boat??? hehehehe

Also should be the first run of my SD45... oh and guess what???? its green!!!! LOL

EMS Racing the only thing that is constant is change

Don't you know green boats are bad luck? :p :p

watcha running in the SD45 motor wise?

EMS racing: WAAAAAY too many boats.

Craig,

Hey, I only ran the A90 in the bird, not the A100! :p I have been thinking about putting the A100 in there to get to that pesky 100 mark, but I dont want to smash it up! It is a much better boat as a 67 boat tho!

Nitrocrazed racing: Only one Insane boat.

Tim,

Well it just so happens that after all the engine and money swapping (who owed who what) I ended up with a spare MAC 45. The A engines are not in yet so I thought I would use the MAC to set the boat up. Well that now means the MAC is a permenant fixture, as the engine lugs are at a different height on the A engines (by about 2-3mm) so the shaft wont line up.

Boat is all done apart from Radio and pipe mount. Hope I can get that done Saturday.

EMS Racing anyone have a trailer for sale???
