mr fons, 2.5 to the end of the drive dog will work fine as long as you dont have any interference with the rudder, I designed my struts to be 2.75 to the back of the strut. And it works well at that length, it gives you clearence for the rudder and puts the prop back in clean water.

Jerry,Thanks for the support I really appreciate the kind words. For those who would like one of my struts for the 21 I have seven left and will not be making any more for awhile. I will try and get a pic posted in the for sale section unless you would like to post pics of the ones I sent you Jerry. :)

Thanks again,Jim

EDIT: Here are a few pics of the 21 struts.

Looks exactly like the one you just sent me! Beautiful work Jim! Are you still taking orders for the Delrin boom collars? If so, are you making them for both the .12 and 21's? (i'm building both)

-Kent

Got any left? I need one. PM me if you wish to get all of the particulars out of the way. My .21 is at the point where I really need one to get the ski on and decide which rudder I'm going to use.

Kent, I will be making a few collars for both the 12 and 21, I have to get a few things squared away on my boats before I go back into production.

Jim

Jim,

How much for the .21 strut shipped (to 75007)? Where do I send the money to?

Thanks,

David

No problem Jim...it is only fair that you should have some time to work on your own boats... :)

Dan, If you got one of my original designs that will fit either 12 or 21 it did not have the holes,This is the latest design specifically for the 21, it is a little larger that is why I added the holes to reduce the weight a little.

Jim:

I would like to buy a .21 size strut if you have any remaining. If so, please price, including to shipping to 34746, and payment instructions.

Thanks,

John

WOW 15 pics of the strut in one page, hope everyone gets the idea what they look like LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this appears twice, I apologize- I posted it once, and it didn't appear!!

At the risk of changing the topic from struts (with lots of pictures!) to something else on the JAE .21 build, I would like to know if I should run a brass tube for cooling water through the transom and rear engine compartment bulkhead- or simply a flexible hose from the water pickup to the motor head water inlet? Seems that'd be rather unwieldy, though that's what it appears Kently Porter is doing on his boat on the cover of the instructions. I'm just used to running a brass tube through the boat, then 2 pieces of flexible rubber tubing- one at either end. Is the weight of the brass tubing more of a liability than a piece of rubber tubing flopping around in the airstream?

Wes

Wes,

I always run a brass tube for water in everything I build. The JAE 21 has one.

Go with the brass tube.

Wes, If you havent glued your ski on yet you can run the brass tube up inside the ski and directly into the engine compartment. I was going to do it that way and got ahead of myself and glued the ski on. OOPS
