I bought a zip kits jae .21 g2 in december and have been running a nitro star 3.5. I want to upgrade to a cmb valvoa or mac.21 engine with header and tuned pipe, but i cannot get in touch with anyone who has one in the U.S. Any suggestions on where to buy one or something similar would be appreciated. Thanks , Justin.

Get yourself a nova rossi 5 or 7 port or a GO 5 or 7 port.

Both will run great!

I've run plenty of mac .21's and I would not advise them for heat racing... they seem to be a little bit faster but they're VERY touchy and VERY unforgiving, which is NOT what you want for a heat racing boat. I can't speak to the valvola because I've never run it but my understanding is that it's essentially the same motor as the mac .21.

My advice would be talk to Glenn Quarles about getting a Nova Rossi .21. All of them run excellent and they are much more forgiving and consistent.

i have heard this about mac's for a while. i run 3 cmb LS evo2's. essentially an exact copy of a mac (i have both). but my cmb's have NEVER been hard to tune or fuel hungry. 8 0z.'s will finish a heat in my jae .21. my tunnels & mono use 5 or 6 oz.'s a heat. so cmb musta done something to "refine" the design.

Justin there is a good choice of .21 engines today that will depend on what you really want.If you can afford to get a Nova this is my personal choice but we might consider other great options like the .21 CMB VAC or the A/A (Al Hobbs is the distributor and in this forum too) or the GO 21 R Pro Race 5 or 7 ports.I've been playing with one GO 21 7 ports in a Jae and What I can tell you is the boat is very competitive at a lower budget.

I do know that the A/A parts fit Mac's engines but as previously mentioned they are tricky to deal with.Hope you can choose the best one for you.

Never had problems with them being fuel hungry. My Mini Mutt sport 20 carries 8 oz of fuel and when I had the Mac .21 in it, it always came back with at least 2 oz left in the tank, sometimes more. My biggest issue with them is consistency, you have to walk a very fine line to get the maximum performance out of that motor. I still run the motor in .21 hydro, but if the boat takes any weird hops or the motor gets coolled with some roostertail spray, sometimes it's tough luck gettin the thing to come back on the pipe and it will usually conk out.

Justin, yeah I think the Toro will fit your needs really good! You will enjoy the torque and ease of use. Like we talked about, you will be using bigger props than you would be with the other motors. Some props you may want to try: 1452, 1650, etc. I bet Mark Sholund can give you more ideas. My best prop with this motor for heat racing is the V947 with added pitch and cup (your boat may not like the way it acts, so it would not be one of my first recommendations).
