I just finished the build and initial runs of my JAE 21 FE. This boat is smoking! It was a little hot to drive but I cannot say enough good thing about how fun this boat was. Mine was a stock build with the Aquacraft UL1 and 50 amp speed controll. I am using 4S 5000mA packs and a Octura X447 prop. I am going to prop it up next to see how much more I can get out if it. However with this setup my packs were about 50% after 7 or 8 laps and nothing was too hot. I used Anderson Power Pole connectors for the batter (crimp vs. solder).

Have fun !

That sounsd like a great running JAE 21 David. :) You will get better performance and lower temperatures if you replace the crimped-on PowerPoles with either Deans connectors or much better yet 5.5mm gold bullets soldered on. We used the PowerPoles 20 years ago when max amp draw was ~35 amps. You are pulling well over 60 amps and the PowerPoles are not rated for that amp draw. Low resistance is your friend.

Try an ABC H5, H7 or H10. If your boat runs very loose and cool go for the S15. Try to stick with 2.8 to 3.1 of Pitch. (you might have to be careful with the stock controller though)

Have fun.
