Yes it isn’t straight forward. The boat is super easy build if using cable. But for solid it is time consuming

I would build it with cable. The boat will run faster than it can handle with cable. The advantage with wire is worth while. But the boat will go fast enough to break if it blows over with a cable.

I was thinking quicker acceleration rather than overall speed being the "it" factor when using the wire drive vs a cable. Am I correct?

It’s better All around. But it depends on how well you dial it in. Some cable
Boats can be faster. It’s Like anything with boats, if you really take the time it it is better.
If people think changing from cable to solid will be a significant gain most will be disappointed. Especially on a 17.5 pound plus sport hydro.
