IMPBA 2011 Race Calandar

Hello IMPBA CD’s,

I am getting things lined up so that I can start adding races to the events calendar on the IMPBA web site. I entered the first one last night for the Winter Nats. The system works pretty well

It got me thinking that a lot of clubs would like to be able to submit their layout the way they want it. Plus I would not have to type all of them in, eliminating a bunch of typos and at the speed I type actually getting things done before the racing season is over with.

So here is what I want to do.

You or someone in your club send me the race information in a MS Word document and if that is not available they can send it to me in a email. Different fonts can be used, I just wouldn’t go too crazy with funky fonts. Different colors are ok. So are logos.

Include times, dates, classes, reg info, prizes, lodging info, contact info. All the usual race stuff and anything else you want them to know.

If you would like to have a web link to your clubs site send that along.

Also make sure the address to the race site is in there. We are going to set the page up so people can click a button and the race site will come up for them in one of the mapping web sites.

Once I have the info and John Equi tells me the race sanction is approved I can get it in to the calendar and everyone will have access to it.

It could as long as it is in MS word or email format. I am not sure how the website would work with a PDF, but we could try it.

IMPBA Website Update

First off thanks to the first few CD’s who sent in race flyers. We have been able to find out some things that do and do not work posting race flyer information.

First the things that do work:

MS Word docs are by far working out the best. Bill Kozuck with the Southern Tier club race flyer came out looking really nice on the calendar. You can see Southern Tier race flyers on any month between May and October.

PDF Files are working. Unfortunately they just are not as nice looking on the web page as they are when I copy them from the PDF. They lose some of the formatting. If that is what you have we will make it work. It just won’t look as nice on the web page as the printed page.

The site mapping software is working very nicely. I put in the address and we have Google Maps to the race site.

Now the thing that do not work:

Graphics are not being copied over. Club logos and other graphics will not copy.

Colons “:” just do not work. The software behind the web page hates them.

So sent in your Race/Record Trial Flyer Info and we can get it on the Event Calendar once the sanction is approved.
