It is not a simple explanation when describing how difficult it is just to make the Finals at a World Championship. In the hydro events, the heats are 8 boats on a tight course with little room on the outside. If you are in lane 6 you are on the shore. If there is a dead boat in the corner, you have to throttle back to get by cleanly. The start line is not the center of the course, but near the first buoy. It is not the fastest boat that wins, it is the driver that overcomes all the difficulties.

To win a medal as a first time competitor is quite a feat.

I am so proud of Team USA for the way they performed on the race course and with the many different people from around the world. There is a new game at the German Camp. It is called "Where's Doug?"

Team Canada is to be congratulated for placing 3 boats in the Finals.

The USA and Canada had small teams in the 2018 World Championships, actually, the smallest teams. But, both teams made quite an impression. They represented their countries well.
