My L1 cert flight was a success. Everything was flawless. Other than the high humidity today, the weather was perfect. This was my first time at an organized launch and my flight was the first HPR launch I ever witnessed in person. I have seen a lot of videos, but they don't compare to seeing them live. It was especially cool that it was mine. The cert team thought I was nuts for going with the I285R. But the big motor in a heavy bird made for a very good show. BTW - the redline motors rock! I am waiting on pics and I heard that someone has video. I will post them as soon as I can.

I'm a returning n00b to boats. Been out of it for about 10 years. I've been hanging around the TTRA club in Plant City for about 2 years. Got my Level 1 cert about 6 months ago with a Mad Cow Patriot. I've got a 4" Frenzy kit that I was going to do my L2 on, but decided to retrofit the Patriot with an altimeter bay, get the dual deploy down to a science then just go for the L2 with it...assuming it's not a smokin' hole in the ground.....

Hmmmm, what to build ???

Found a good deal on some parts today B 60 size stuff. Now the question becomes 3 rockets of different fin and nosecone configurations / 1 longer and one short or the obvious 1 really long one. Gonna stick to 24mm D-E Power / thru wall fin construction and most of the other MP tricks I have learned just to make em strong. My thoughts on fin designs are simple- nothing trailing the boat and possibly 1 canted forward design- 1 like the Astron Sprint -more rounded and forward. or or or ........

Lets hear it .....

Andy,

I love the shape of all three of those nosecones.. never easy.. Just know that the shorter the rocket the larger the fins OR the more swept back. Also note that 4 fins really does not help..

If it was be I would FORSURE build using the Sprint nosecone.

Get ready for those Black Friday Sales. The high power Rocket vendors traditionally have some wicked deals. The only down side is sometimes you have to wait a month or two to get your order.

Something I'm looking forward to trying is the Jolly Logic Chute Release. Last I heard it may be available at the end of they year. An electric device you wrap around your chute and it will deploy it at a preset altitude. I think you are going to see allot of low and mid powered birds going allot higher with this device.

I missed out on the Wildman sale. Now that the 3" Punisher is nearly completed, I am really itching for a Demon 98.
