Why not ask this of the hydro guys too...

#1 What are the advantages/disadvantages/results of a long strut and getting the prop away from the transom?

#2 What are the advantages/disadvantages/results to a long rudder bracket and getting the rudder further away from the transom?

;) Further prop gets from transom the more leverage prop has to lift transom and boat acts like it's longer than it actually is.

Pending on turn fin location relitive to CG, a rudder thats further back on a hydro tends to kick the rear end harder sideways with less rudder deflection that one thats close in.

Three point, AKA : tail dragger riggers like rudders out back beyond props trailing tips while riggers with rear sponsons or shoes turn better with rudder up close to transom and prop behind that.

Lots of ways to set up and only trial and error will show whats best for any specific hull.
