I am really new to FE and wanted to know what the difference between the Limited Sport Hydro class and the UL-1 would be? Can they race together? I was looking at a used one over on rum runner and it has the sv27 motor/speed controler in it. Is there a difference betweent the two power plants also? Thanks Joe

Joe,

LSH is a class that was based on brushed 700 class motors, cheap and very popular. Technology changed (and got cheaper) so LSH as it appears in the rule books hasn't been run in several years. Instead, the last couple years we've been running the "LSH" with the power systems out of the three major RTRs (SV-27, BlackJack 26 and UL-1). In most clubs a UL-1 would be fine in LSH as it's being run now. Best to check with the local club.

The SV-27 motor is lower RPM than the stock UL-1 motor and the ESC is a 45amp vs the stock UL-1 60amp unit. It can be competitive but needs a different prop. SV-27 ESC doesn't have a low voltage cutoff to protect LiPo cells (not an issue for heat racing).

Hope that helps.

We run LSH at MMEU club class with the motors (any ESC) Brian mentioned, it is our most popular class. We have found in race traffic smaller hulls like the Vortex end up upside down. The UL1 requires some sponson mods to tame its ride down. The Miss Vegas Nitro hull when converted to FE works very well, also the Whiplash 20 will hold its own.

Hope this helps.
