Hurricane Gas Inline 2 engines rigger.

Just to you this project. It is a Hurricane Gas Rigger that the tub has been modified to accept an RCMK 520s inline gas engine. The cylinders are two 28.5 cc Zenoahs and modded pistons, with Zero Drag seals, etc... Self modded...

The boat is made of a combination of G-10 plastics and wood. The inside of the sponsons are balsa wood with G-10 outside lamination. All this work done by Mr. Sergio Perez of Hurricane Riggers, in Miami, Fl.

Mr. Ross Medina of Speed Master Hardware have worked on the build up of this boat. As you can see on the pictures ahead, there are lots of details made by Mr. Perez and Mr. Medina, that makes this boat special... Lots of work!

good luck with that...though you do realize twin 28.5's is illegal to run on any IMPBA or NAMBA sanctioned pond.

And you might wanna figure out how to fit a 500ml bag in there.. cause you will likely never be able to finish a heat on one 250 bag.

You are completely right with respect to the NAMBA and IMPBA engine specifications. For this reason I have modded two 26cc Zenoah cylinders and pistons, and two 231cc Zenoahs cylinders and pistons. We will first send the boat to the water with these 28.5 cc heads and see what happens...

The tub already have a 500cc IV bag on the front. The boat weight withouth batteries and with an empty IV bag is 17.75 pounds / lbs. This is why we are first testing the hull with small version pontoons... Larger size ponttoons will be available from Sergio Perez in the near future.

I did a "salt water pool" Flotation test last night. After a minute, the front sponsons and middle of the rigger tub sank, leaving on the surface back transon and prop. This is not good.... so I added extra foam flotation to the front IV bag cabin, around the engine, and on the transon cabin as well. Added extra foam inside the sealed radio box / servo cabins. Will do 2nd flotation test this afternoon at home pool... Pictures will be added.

I saw that coming. They dont handle weight well. My single engine Hurricane sank in atlanta last august. Now you have almost double the weight sitting in one.

Here are some pictures:

1. Aluminum outside " bushing Isolators" for motor mount. This helps with engine vibration and bolt loosening or wood "deshisance" upon engine running. These are specialy made by Ross Medina. These are the first set ever tested.

2. Pipes clamps / holders. (These are made for this rigger, but can be used in similar situations...).

3. Flotation foam around everywhere! Please float!!!!

No worries. A new set of larger sponsons will resolve this floating issues in the future...

Luis...honestly, bigger sponsons arent the cure. Im no rigger builder, nor do i know everything about them...but it seems because they are solid Balsa covered in ply, they do not provide the flotation like WOF (wood over foam) sponsons do.

With the hurricanes... the main flotation source seems to be the radio box. My twin started sinking in Huntsville last weekend after hitting a bouy and flipping. And thats with sponsons twice the size of what you have (as well as what my single hurricane has..)
