Im considering setting up a Climate vintage shovelnose for LSH class .Which motor is recomended .? What dia flex shaft is used ? What dia props suggested? What kind of speeds can be obtained in this class in oval trim format? What speed controls are popular for this class i still have a 12 cell Hughey mechanical speed from when i stopped racing in 1999. Any input would be great

Motor - SS1

Flex shaft -.125

ESC - R/C Hydro's

Prop - X645

Batteries - 3300's

Ditto what Truckpull said.

SS1's are available from:

http://www.finedesignrc.com/motors.asp#FD-EM%20SS1

They are sold under the "Cordite" brand name, i.e. Cordite SS1. I believe they are on sale right now for $55.00.

Electronic Speed Control (esc) available from:

http://www.rc-hydros.com/

OR

http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/MainPage.htm

Any of the RC-Hydros controllers that is rated for 12 cells or more will work. I personally prefer not to use the battery eliminator equiped version (bec).

LSH Set-Up

FDM SS1 motor

.125 flex

Octura X645 prop

Jeti Navy 600 esc

GP3700 batteries

the RC Hydro's esc is the # 1 accepted brushed control out there but not the only fish in the pond that offers excellent bang for the buck... i've had flawless performance from the Jeti Navy 600 (no bec - water cooled) control as well...

LSH runs ten laps on a 1/10 mile course and in heat racing you'll be close to losing speed on the final lap due to demand on your cells, i've tested the new GP3700's and feel they offer a slight edge in LSH over the 3300's...
