hmm 18 inches.... i think i'd need a piolots liscence for that... if i could even get teh motor in it. does it look hard to build? it's been awhile since I have built a wood boat. so the lager one is about 24.3 inches long... what do you guys think would that do it? or should i stretch it a little more?

-here i go getting ahead of myself again-

I just measure the plans. It is 22" long. I would think that it would be perfect for a.12 engine. ;D The plans look really easy to build. I might just have to build one now myself, kind of a baby sister to my 60 hydro! ;) You know, you live prety close to me, if we both built one, we could race!!!! HE HE HE HE!!!! :D

Sounds cool, like i said though it's been a loooong time since i built a wood boat, i think i'd like to keep it a pull start, and i'm on a tight budget, but if i take it slow and easy, don't go to the bar as much maybe i could get it done faster. and think of the possibility'e, maybe a new kit for ron and you guys, either way it would be nice to have a matched boat to run against, or even a boat to run with for that fact.

-keepin the boats small just for the fun of it-

Well CY, I can help you build yours. as far as another kit. I think Ron & I need to focus on the first one before starting another. However, I wonder what Ron's sister would charge us to cut a couple? hmmmm????

what's she got to cut them with? does 22 inches sound large enough for it? and do you got a spare boat to run, just incase you hydophobic hydro doesn't want to go this time? ;) maybe i should just ask if you got the hh complete. Finally stole a can of engine paint from the shop, figured engine point would be sufficiently fuel proof, but i didn't get it to stick well, so i think that I have to tear it down, remove the paint and try again

-the more i play with my new toy the more i like it-

We can do up to 12"x24" on her Laser cutter. I say we because I usually get to babysit the cutter while it is running in case a fire starts and to make sure it does all of the right cuts seeing how she is not knowledgible in model kits of any kind.

We are finally getting Marty's first 2 kits ready for shipment, I have all of the wood cut and most of his hardware after I found it hiding in my basement last night.

She charges $50.00 an hour and with light ply it cuts pretty fast. If Wade does the CAD work again, it should go smoothly.

Well, the plans are an image file. not much i can do in CAD unless I start fom scratch, Not to say that i can't, but I am getting busy at work again. :p maybe a winter project : :)

Well whenever I'm in no hurry, still enjoying the CEN. Today was a blast, only got one tank of fuel in but it still rocked. at least i got a decent pic with my friend drivin it, i'll put it up later

I was reading the post on the other board, wish i had seen that thing on the head earlier, i busted the outlet line.... well you can fill in the rest, luckily i noticed the boat bogging down before It sunk. so out came my trusty knife and took about an inch off the cooling line, seems too keep it outa the way now, I think i'm going to have to do the same thing to the exhaust to tank line.

I was looking at the June Issue of RCBM, and they have a cooling head in the add that looks like both inlet and outlet are on the same side I looked for it on thier site, but haven't found it yet. will a new head make much of a performance difference?

we still gotta get togeather for another fun run, just for the fun of it, i would alos like if you guys could help me tweak it out, maybe get a better prop, and it doesn't seem to start as well as yours.

-nitro boats and hangovers do not mix well-

Hey Cy,

are you near Kzoo??

I will be in coldwater next week, Lake by me should be pretty calm during the week, If you want to come down let me know.

Tom

Cy is in G.R. If I'm not scheduled to work next weekend I could make the trip to Coldwater. I don't know the City very well so I'd need directions from I-69.

Sounds fun, like ron said i'd need directions, let me know i'll see if i can get the day off

I would volunteer my cad knowledge in my spare time. I can cad the image and Wade can look over it. Just to help out....

I work well in cad and have been playing with rigger plans but I definitely need more experience with design. But I can do Acad monkey work with the best of them. ;D

Wade if you work with cad I am sure you know the difference between some one that knows how to use Cad and someone who can work in the program..... Lets just say some people don't have a clue what extend, trim, & fillet Radius zero is. And don't get me started on Layers!!!!

dumb question #1 "why should I make layers when I can change the color & linetype right here at the top of the screen?" > :(

Hey I saw that there is a kick up rudder for my boat, i know it's not too pricey, but is it worth the investment? I guess I'm worried that it would kick up hitting a weed or something not damaging to the original unit, and leave me swimming to retrieve it when i coulda enjoyed a perfectly good run.

-ok so it is another slow day at work... what can i say-

It depends on what kind of kick-up that it is. If it's spring loaded, it will return to it's position after hitting something. If it has a shear pin (usually a brass or aluminum screw) they don't come back down and almost all steering is lost.

Wet Paint Racing; it'z a gud thin that I check my spellin.

It says it's spring loaded, i think i want to fix the truning problem frist then i'll worry about a new rudder, unluss you guys think it's a must I did notice that it looks like the standoff for it might be a little flimsier too..... soo maybe not. I think i am going to try and move the whatever there called to the center hole on the servo horn first.

-spelling shoot i went to public skools ;) -

Okay... sunday was a bad day for me and mechanical things. first i fixed the broken tierod on the way to the lake my clutch on the car went out... so i babyed it the last half mile.... first thing i did was get out grabbed boat. the engine fired first pull without priming... all right ;D lost antenna tube after half tank so i brought it in.... replaced tube and attempted to restart, boat rufused to restart. put new glow plug in boat starts, return line breaks off of tank. repair tank flip it arround to use other side, attempt to start engine again, flooded engine... unfloodded engine, tugged on starter, boat fires, and little cap comes off the bottom of fuel tank. retrieved cap emptied nitro out of bottom of boat almost whole tank on the bottom ???, replaced cap, tugged starter, and lost the set screw from engine to prop shaft... :-[ replaced set screw, started engine lost set screw again.... no more set screws, end of day :- :( > :( now i look into that little flexy part (what is that called) it looks like that set scew hole is stripped, anything i can do short of buying a whole new one? still gotta get a new tank... and possibly new car

-at least i didn't have to work :) -

You didnt say how the ride home was with the bad clutch???

Sorry to hear about your boating day, Somedays are like that > :( Just like the red boats on Kal day, sence then i have had my mono running the best its ran. Kinda scares me now, probably my luck will blow up.

Now about your set screw problem

can you drill it out and tap it to the next larger size?

put alittle bit of blue lock tite on the treads next time, vibrations will work it loose.

NT

regarding drive-dog set screws......I've prematurely ended my day at the lake because of these more than once. > :( I've even lost them when I was using loc-tight and grinding a flat spot in the stub-shaft. ??? I still grind a flat spot on my shafts, but I also started using industrial strength loc-tight (also known as superglue) 8)

he he... yeah the ride home was great..... ;D i think that's the whitest i have ever seen my friend.... (one of those eminem wannabes)... At least i had driven my mg on the scca courses, and subbed for my buddys dad doing a rally. (he actually taught me how to shift without using a clutch) so it wasn't that bad just a little nerve racking trying to time the lights. and coming to stop signs. i think i'm going to have to baby it across town to dads shop and put a new one in myself, but it might be a bit before i can find the time to do it.

I was glad i had forethought to get an extra setscrew, but was kinda bummed it didn't work out. I also forgot to mention that the flywheel pretty much covered me in nitro when the tank dumped.... even after showering and swiming i was afraid to light a smoke ;)

I had a feeling that would be the answer, just wanted to make sure before i got the tap set out.

Finnally got my Fish tank back from my Ex, so it'll probably be a day or two before i get back to the boat.... I honestly don't think she has done any maintenece on it since i left. > :( > :( > :( after the past four hours of droping the water and cleaning it i think i'll never need to put salt on any food again :) also one of my fish got sick from the move so i guess sunday was just a foreshadowing of this week

-hey i got a fresh Tube of jbweld here, that should keep it from going anywhere ;D-
