Well I broke down and got a RTR CEN aquajet with a .16 in it. and in admisdt a light drizzle I fired it up and got it in the water..... what can I say I AM HOOKED! even got some of my friends to try it out... don't let them know I said this but i think they had fun. anyways in my true nature I am wondering what class if any this boat would fall into for racing? and does anybody else have one that they have got some good mods on? Let me know thanks

-Lake Techumsea a little outta the way but shallow enough to walk to your boat!-

Glad you're hooked, welcome to the addiction :p it has a .16 engine in it right? You won't be able to race it in any official race. "A" class is .129; "B" class is .21 so you are right in between. But have fun with it & you can always get a race boat later. ;)

;D ;D good to see you have started at the small scale of models. remember that you can always go bigger from there.

just becareful if the water is shallow enough to walk in when you get a bigger boat if it rolls its gonna hurt. $$$$

just start to save now while you can as when you get right in you will not have time to save as you will be spending time rebuilding or working to pay for it all.

;D Well i guess i'll have some fun learning the ropes with this one then. as for the water it does get deeper, and it was about mid stomach where i was running, I'm 6'1, but it was calm and perfect temp for some swimming afterwards.

I also noticed that the boat tended to track to the left, and that using the steering trim did not seem to remedy it much, so i was thinking i would get a turn fin or two, where would be the best place to put it?

-opps there i go again calling lakes by the wrong name, it was tacoma lake not techumsea-

YEP WE ARE ALL HOOKED.

Seems cant stop at 1-2-3 boats, Course the 4th one i am working on is "her" boat, but the best part of it is, She dont want it. But honey its for you.

guess she can watch and i can play.

I thought about getting the miss bud just for ***** and to play around with, nice little boat, course i wouldnt be happy and would have to stuff a .21 in it.

Cy,

I also noticed that the boat tended to track to the left, and that using the steering trim did not seem to remedy it much
If you have thr rudder trim maxed out, you might have to pull the servo arm off & recenter it.

turn fins should be positioned perpendictular to the bottom of the hull almost to the top where the freeboard starts.

Cy,

You will be able to run it. It would qualify for the B class in IMPBA. It will qualify for the A class in NAMBA. The problem being that you would be going against boats that run .21 sizes motors. Maybe a little outclass. It will still give you some experience before moving up to a boat that has more speed.

I am too ! Big boats, small boats, gas, nitro, monos, cats, and a rigger coming. I think I should seek help to slow down at least. ;D

Slow down???? Never! ;D however i did find out I really like the smell of nitro...

The rudder seems to be centerd when the boat and transmitter are on, i'll take a square and double check though, unfortunatly the servo is mounted upside down so it might be a little difficult to get it properly centered, i did notice there are some adjustments on the rudder side of the linkage i think i will play with first.

-speed by any shape or form-

cyslyde

what radio are you using??

jr futaba hitech??

" i won 3rd in x-mono shoot out to day !! ;D ;D"

If you look in the IMPBA rulebook there is a class called ABS. It has a .16 max, ABS hull, pull start motor but you do have to have a muffler, not a tuned pipe. I have yet to see it used but it is in there.

I'm going to get my boats ready this week after I put the Speedmaster 21 back together, do a little work on the HH .12 and I scored an engine for the 7.5 Microburst at the Internats from Dan Koker. If you guys want to meet somewhere, let me know, I'm on vacation yet this week.

Ron - sounds good to me, i got tues and weds morning off got school at 5:30 both days... prolly go back to tacoma lake wed if my friend comes down for karaoke tues, but if you want to meet someplace else drop me a line it would be fun. On wades advice i'm going to tear it down and put in some fuel proof paint in it real soon.... however it is packed up and ready to go to Write Angle (SP) lake tonight, just waiting till i get out of work, a little worried about the nitro sitting in my hot trunk but i don't think anythiing will happen to it. hopefully i'll finish breaking it in tonight before sundown

Paul- I am using the redy to run CEN radio... all i can tell you right now, prolly switch to a futaba when i get the extra $$$ since i don't think my old one is getting a good range anymore

-now that i'm a free man again i can get as many toys as i want right???-

CY,

From what I have seen, that CEN Radio is a decent radio. I don't think I would worry about getting a new one unless you start having problems. Ron has more experience with them though with his CEN Grey Thunder.

If I had the nitro, & the Time I would Join you. Where is Tacoma Lake?

Tacoma Lake is between Pierson and Trufant (SP).... there is a public access boat launch... read where the dirt road meets the water.... but my friend has a cottage up there, so i was hoping i could go and use a little bigger area to run at even if there is no dock.

If you can find the time i could spare a little nitro i think.

It ran good taday, definantly like to have someone help twaek in my engine, seemed to run a little faster/better once the wind got a small chop to the surface, it still wants to run to the left so i guess i'l play a little more with the settings. anyways let me know... we might be able to go use the cottage at angle right too, but we'd have to see if we could use the neighbors dock and theres a weed bed about 10 ft out.... but i think my prop found most of the longer ones > :( :)

-gotta admit it's cool to see your mom get geeked over one of your toys-

ok, LOL, where is Angle Right lake? I think I know where Tacoma Lake is know. that isn't that far for me, but that is about 1 1/2 hr for Ron. This week is out. I have to much junk going on. Belive me though i much rather run my boat. :( On the 9th, i plan on runnign my boat with a friend at his in-law's house on Turk Lake North of Greenville.

Ron, You are going to be on Vacation all this next week as well? I will have to call you Then.

I'm off all this week. I have a bunch of tips that can be used on your boat that I put on www.radiocontrolzone.com in the Beginners section under "Boat Review Coming". The engine vibrates badly until it is broken in then runs great for what it is. The CEN radio isn't bad either but not great for a Newbie or anyone that wants a messin' around boat.

I'm going to be busy Tuesday trying to get 2 HH .12 kits to Marty plus I've got some work to do to get my new engine into the Microburst. The Speedmaster 21 got tore down when we tried to fit the Rossi into Craig's .21 'rigger.

angle right is just nw of sand lake... kinda secluded, and not too many big boats... just gotta build a new dock and get some weed control in would be perfect. :D well maybe after i get used to the whole nitro thing i can get a real motor ;D

-yeah no more newbie-

go cyslyde

now not a newbie but still got no idea.

just kidding

you got the bug inya now and you are never going to be free from it..

i am so addicted that i nearly bought a new boat again 2day.

yep yep still clueless, but at least i'm having fun. ;D

I was thinking about getting the plans for the hydro mite, or socking away some money for a small hydro and put a .12 in it, does anybody think the hydro mite would hold it, or know of a hull that would? I just really love the hydros, always have.... or maybe i'll get a cracker box..... what about a cat? :D man i just gotta find a better way to finance my hobbies or should i say addictions!

-Lol just watching divorce court... shesh and i thought my ex was bossy-

Hy CY,

I have the plans for the hydromite. I have 2 sets in fact, 1 set is 1 to 1, & the other is scaled up about 135% or so, I can't remember the exact scale though. the larger one might just work as a 12 size. the 1 to 1 might be a little small, it is only 18" long.
