Here's a few more photos from Hobart. The Jersey Speed Skiffs provided many great shots.

Once again Hobart was a terrific event. It is so much more than a model boat race.

The "Size Matters" event was won by Mike Betke. Mike accumulate 1625 points with his A Hydro(.12) and 1625 points with his B Hydro(.21) for a total of 3250 points.

Gary Preusse placed second.. Gary scored 1300 points with his A Hydro. Gary teamed with Ron Zaker, Jr.'s D Hydro. With Ron's 1900 points, Gary's total was 3200.

David Preusse placed third. David linked his A Hydro's 1100 points with the 1625 points scored by his Twin Hydro for a score of 2725.

Mike won a Nova Rossi 12, a beautiful wood plaque provided by Mike Crawford, and his name will be engraved on the trophy that is displayed in the Hobart Community Center. Gray won a Nova Rossi .12 and David won a $100 gift certificate from Zipp Kits.

Three years ago Rod Geraghty created to "Size Matters" event to encourage and promote the growth of the A Hydro Class. The 15 boats entered in this year's "Size Matters" is the best participation to date. That 125 points was the spread between first and third indicates how close the competition was.

Thanks to everyone who was responsible for putting on and running this race. Was nice to put a face to all the names that you hear about or talk to. Never thought that I would find so much Aloha Spirit at a boat race. The Aloha Spirit lives in Hobart! Thanks to All for making this trip soooo special..

Friendship and competitive boat racing can be found together..

Much Aloha

Thanks for posting the pic Jerry. It was nice to meet you after all these years.

I received a couple of messages asking what type of boats these are. The boats are Betke designed by my dad Jerry and myself. The A boat was designed and built by him and he has been playing around with it for a couple of years. A few weeks ago he said, why don't take it down there and see how it does as we have never raced it. Sure am glad I took him up on that one.
