Hey Rod,

You make me want to partner with one of those tiny boats now. Very cool trophy. This could be as much or more fun than the IMPBA/NAMBA challenge. BTW, things that I found out yesterday from the HOBART people that this will be even a bigger event than was this year. They just received an award of hosting the best festival in North Western Indiana for our boat race. Sponsors for their festival are lining up to donate major $ now. I don't know how this could be any better but with Rod's idea of this challenge, it will be bigger. Joe @ Zipp Kits, thank you. Glenn, bring your donation with you and join/race with us, thank you.

Things like this make me thankful to be involved with model boating!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Stu

Mike & Stu,

We have a little 12 Minishooter, we just need to test it when the water

warms up. :D

Happy Holidays,

Mark Sholund

I remember the day when Stu said he wouldn't run anything that he couldn't get his finger in the Cyclinder.LOL

Shrimpshooter?

Remember, any brand can compete although the JAE .12 is the preferred one.

It's a good thing that I pack the other kind of nitro in pill form as this race is getting more exciting by the year! If I only attend just one race next season you can guess which one it'll be!

Nobody is deliberately going to try for the loser award but with my luck I'll be in the running..........

I moved this post over from races and results......here is the rest of the story.........In my original post of about 2 - 3 months ago I said I

had commisioned Mike Crawford to build the trophy.....When it was all said and done the trophy became a joint venture ......

Mike built the base and I built the small 10" JAE that is on the top of the trophy and Mike handled the engraving........

Mike does't know it yet but I am going to ask him to do the individual plaques also..... ;)

I am really pleased with the results

There has been a question that if the "Size Matters Hydro Challenge" was being offered with the blessing of Stu Barr........

Before I even mentioned it on IW I talked to Stu and he gave his blessing to this endeavor.....

Both Stu and myself are very interested in promoting Nitro R/C boat racing and get people building again and not just buying......

When the JAE effort was launched, the .12size [A-hydro} seemed the logical place to start for several reasons....

1.There just has to be about a zillion .12 motors out there not being used because the cars they were in were rendered obsolete.

2.The boats had to be inexpensive and simple to build and set-up to encourage new R/C boaters to download the free plans or take a $49.00 flyer [Zippkits] and try to join the hobby.

3.The boats had to be affordable and easy to run.It was imperative that the boat didn't need a big wallet and 20 years of nitro hydro experience to be competitive.

I believe the JAE team and Zippkits by in large have accomplished these goals......In fact the JAE affordable simple design has progressed beyond our wildest dreams.

We have had feedback from several veteran racers telling us how much fun these little .12 boats will dispense ......4OZ. of fuel at a time......[Mike Schindler,Bob Morton,Bob Bonahoom,David Preusse,David Hall and Ron Zaker just to name a few.]

What is even more satisfying, the little .12 boats will flat run some very respectable speeds on some pretty nasty water.

The Hobart Hydro Masters "Size Matters Challenge" is just an extension of this effort to attempt to encourage affordable R/C boat building and racing and

try to help make the Hobart Hydro Masters the premier event that it is.

The Perpetual trophy for the "Size Matters" Challenge is finished and will have the names of the challenge winners [and biggest losers :p ] engraved on it for all to see.The trophy is 14" X14" X 13" high.

The trophy was built by Mike Crawford of Woodstuff tunnels and I am here to tell you it is a very nice piece.Kudos to Mike.He out did himself in this effort.

The trophy will remain and be displayed in Hobart with the boat given the city .The challenge winners will be given individual plaques and the winners [and losers :) ] and the prize chest continues to grow.

There is no entry cost for this challenge, just sign up prior to start of the competition.

We will see you in Hobart.

I guess if I made a 12 size, it would be called a crabshooter :D
then it would be called a peeshooter or babyshooter..LOL!! wondering if anyone doing up a twin.12?? Joe is planning to build one and hope to maybe race it there? Hot Rod I know Joe talked to you about doing engine work on his twin. :D after talking to you and Glen he's pumped in building it..

Hey Rod

This all looks and sounds great the trophy is just to cool
