I found a dumas miss circus circus (43inches long 21 inches wide) 95 % built.I can pick up cheap. My question is can I fit a small gas zenhoa in it .I dont want to run nitro, also this boat is not going to be used for racing just playing around, so 35 to 40 MPH would be fine with me. any info on this conversion would help. Im sure somebody out there has tried it. Thanks

I've had the same idea with my Dumas Miller American 1/8 scale kit that is still new in the box. I was wanting to build one to run a Zenoah 260 and I posted the question either on this forum or on rcboatmodeler.com. I can't remember now. Anyway, the guys that are in the know told me that the engine placement is the critical thing. Gas engines need to be further forward and we will end up with problems trying to mount our engines that far forward in hulls designed for nitro engines.

Hydro guys, help us out with more details here. And yes, I know the Whiplash hydro is out there and it runs very, very well and is extremely popular. I'm sure I'll be building one in the not too distant future!

If my memory serves me correct, the top of the Picco 65 which was in a former scale boater in SW Louisiana that built the Dumas Circus unlimited was just under the cowling. That would mean the you would have to butcher the heck out of it to make the Zenoah work. Like Danny mentioned with the extra weight of the gas motor it would have to be moved forward so that the boat would ride like it should. In short, at 1/8th scale this particular boat would require a lot of modifications to run the Zenoah and to make it look like a scale or semi-scale hydro the cowl would have to be completely reconstructed. If it were one of the other unlimiteds with the larger air scoops, it could possibly work.

The boat im getting is not completley finshed so I was thinking I could go ahead and make mods to engine compartment now. also Im not going to go with the scale look,I was going to go with the look of a sport 40 boat with no fin on back and a bigger cowl .Anyway if any body else has any info me and dannyual767 would like some tips thanks.

There was a guy running one in the city and it didn't run to well. The torque twisted the boat too much and I think that's because it was originally built for a .67 nitro engine.

What is cheap when you say that cost wise? Sometimes for a little more you can just buy a gas hydro hull

Guys I have seen a Phil Thomas sport 40 with 260 Zenoah in it runs real good. I run a Phil Thomas round nose 1/8 scale with Zenoah races about 60mph.
