It really depends on what you intend to do with it & what kind of performance you want. I would go with a water cooled marine engine though. Like the OS .32 marine if you want to keep the price down or I’m sure you could pick up a K&B 3.5 used from someone on here.

I dont think im going to race, so i am willing to get outlaw big blocks. What is the difference between the marine engines and the car engines? Id rather get a big block .26 because the power is so much higher compare to the marines. (2.75hp for the mach .26 and 30,000rpm, compared to 1.1hp and 21,000rpm of a marine) And car engines are much cheaper. I kinda just wanna go as fast as I can :D

Phil <_< B)

When it comes to engines I go with the better name brands. In this case I doubt you will see a difference.

Manifolds, doesn't matter.

Mac pipe is good.

Without seeing the hardware, I wouldn't recommend it.

Speedmaster Rudder $40

Speedmaster WM1 Strut $23

Strut Bushing $5

Flex Cable $17

Speedmaster Motor Mount $40

Flex Cable Collet $19

Don't forget a drive dog, prop nut, starting belt , flywheel, starter, (unless pull start), nicad ignitor, possibly trim tabs, extra glow plugs, props, radio box tape, on-off radio box switch, antenna mount, pipe mount, fuel, and fuel pump. Bill at Rossi Sales of America has practically everthing you need. You might look at Aeromarine Laminates or Seaducer as well.

Nobody uses a throttle return spring, your option.

The difference between car a marine engines is that they are tuned/timed for their horsepower to be more effective in different areas. Basically a marine engine is for drag racing as compared to a car engine.

Cool thanks for the info. Do i need a flywheel and a starting belt? It will be apull start engine. is the speed master motor mount as cheap as them come? 40% for a mount is a bit much for me, I was hoping for one that will get the job done at 10-20$ Would any of these hardware packages from http://www.pirespreto.com/octura_catalog1....ER%20ASSEMBLIES work? They are 60$ and looks like everything is included. I just dont know what sizes to get and what size coupler to attach it to the engine.

Phil <_< :)

If pull start then no, you don't need a flywheel and starting belt.

The previous harware you listed (96-15A) was $67. 150A is $57. The stub shaft and flex shaft aren't joined. Again, no pics, no opinion.

is the speed master motor mount as cheap as them come?
For the most part, yes. There are some cheaper solid mounts, but I don't recommend them.
They are 60$ and looks like everything is included
They seem to only have a strut, rudder, two piece shaft, and stuffing tube. You need way more.

Add to my previous list: 1/4" brass stuffing tube, 30 minute epoxy and some fiberglass cloth.

Nothing cheap about this sport when buying new stuff. If you buy cheaper you usually cost yourself more.

For the money aspect, you should look at buying a good used boat. Ready to Run $525 Shipped

This was a deal as well. Keep looking on the for sale page.

Yeah i cant spend more than 300-320$ Offshoreelectrs has some hardware for a decent price.

Inline Rudder System

3/16 strut w/.130flex Cable

Strudder Bracket

Aluminum Strut

Wedge Ruder

For 63$ and they also have couplers for 8$ Ill need to find what size i need. A shaft and struffing tube for 10$ Dog drive for 4$ brass tubing for 2$

I think thats it for hardware, and I also have a prop.

I do haha, its just the budget im on is a pain and I cant get much for it.

Thanks,

Phil <_<

Heres what comes with the octura strudder package.

2 LEAD TEFLON SLEEVE BEARING, 3/16" (internal diameter) 1/4" O.D. 3/8" long (one in pkg)

NOSE PIECE, (brass), for use with .150 cable, to .187 prop shaft (OC6150PS) in our OC6SBE strut blade

DRIVE DOG, 3/16" bore, 5/16" dia., w/ 4/40 set screw, hardened plated steel

BERYLLIUM COPPER MOUNTING BRACKET for strut blades OC4SBE or OC6SBE,back of the hull or through bottom installation with four 4/40 nuts & bolts and a 5140 socket head bolt with lock nut for clamping. This bracket is also used in the wedge rudder assembly.

And a wedge rudder assembly

All that for 66$ Will that work? For 33$ there also is

STRUT ASSEMBLY-designed for use with .21 nitro engines or geared electrics- it comes with

OC6SBE (strut blade) with

2 - OC6LTS (sleeve bearings),

OC61SONP (nose piece),

OC6150PS (prop shaft),

OC6DMM (drive dog),

OC4SBBR (mounting bracket), a washer, retaining nut and a 4/40 socket head wrench (for the drive dog set screw) with 18"of .150 flexible cable (standard left lay) and 18"of .150 teflon tubing (OC6150PS and cable not joined)

And I can pick up a rudder somewhere else for cheaper. The image is the hardware.

Phil   <_<

You're fighting it dude. Like I said, this won't be cheap.

Whatever you decide I can definitely tell you NOT to use a .150 shaft. And I would certainly get a one piece 3/16" shaft.

That Octura stuff can work but it is outdated.

Heres what comes with the octura strudder package.
2 LEAD TEFLON SLEEVE BEARING, 3/16" (internal diameter) 1/4" O.D. 3/8" long (one in pkg)

All that for 66$ Will that work?
Why, when you get a strut and rudder from Speedmaster for the same $$$$? The only thing you wouldn't get is a drive dog.

I dont care much about outdated really, Ill use whatever works :D . If I can get a hardware thing for 60$ (w/o rudder) and 80$ with rudder and everything i need, ill get it.

Phil :(

You really should Listen to Preston and the others, SPEEDMASTER Hardware, Most LHS that carry boat stuff, have the speedmaster stuff. Octura I dont like, and is out dated.

For you to say you just want it to work, IT Will cost you MORE In the long run going YOUR WAY. Listen to us, WE have ALL BEEN There and DONE That cost savings stuff, and it will just cost you more in the end.

as to the motor i would go with the Trinity Rossi motor, REMEMBER You get what you pay for as well, You spend 100 for a motor, your going to get a 100 dollar motor. You spend 200, you will have the better motor.

Futaba radio i would use. with Fut servos

i think the ops side exaust .21 is a good motor. it really screams for $180 with pipe.

these guys know thier stuff, i just wish i had found out about international waters earlier. i have all octura hardware on my boats and i wish i had just paid a few extra bucks and bought speedmaster or aeromarine hardware. remember you buy cheap and you buy twice ;)

Yeah I really agree with you get what you pay for, but at this point I have no choice and am already peaked out for cost. Id love to get better and would if I had the money, even with the engines but right now I cant. I had a nitro hammer and hated it and sent it back because the quality was so poor. There is no 300$ rtr boat out there that is any good, ive heard bad stuff from each of them except the cen one, but its not what im looking for. im sure all you people know what your talking about, and i know you will know more than me :D I just dont understand how hardware can break. And why you say that I should spend the extra money.

About the ops .21 how will that compare to the .26 mach and the trinity rossi .21? Id like more top end than accel. But it doesnt have a pull starter, but does have a collet. So it might just be 30$ more.

Thanks for all the help, comments and opinions!

Phil ;) <_<

Ok im guna try and add this all up with speedmaster equipment.

.45/.90 Strut Assm. .250 Complete comes with Nose Piece, Reducer Bushing, Led Teflons, Blade, Brackets & All Mounting Hardware. for only 25$

1/4" (.250) Drive Dog 2.50$

1/4” Prop Nuts (6 per Bag) 2$

1/4” x 18” Long Flex Shaft 24$ (Can I get cheaper?)

OPS .21x.187 15$

Brass tubing 2$

Ttoal cost of 72.50$ Is there a way I can get cheaper collets and flex shaft?

72$ isnt bad but still more than I like, And ill also need a rudder, I can get one fairly cheap.

Edit: I found this on offshorelectronics.

A 4mm stainless steel shaft with brass stuffing tube,

drive dog and prop nut. The shaft measures 8 1/2" long with a 5 3/4" stuffing tube. This shaft is made for 4mm props but also included in this package is a brass sleeve to convert to 3/16" props

Thats only 10$ and comes with alot!

Thanks,

Phil <_< :)

Your not going to turn 1/4" hardware with a 21, heck the hardware would weigh more than the motor.
