I have a 45 SGX with Modded Mac 45 running 60% fuel. Here is what is happening

Will not come on pipe on the straight, sounds like it wants to come on pipe in the corners but once I straighten out it settles back down

Pipe is AB parabolic set 9-1/2" with cut down h-22

This boat ran fine with this setup until I ran it up on the bank a couple of months ago. No real tub damage just damage to the tubes and left sponson.

I've already changed the fuel line thinking that could have been the problem. The tank got dented when I ran it up on the bank so I checked for leaks and there isn't any. I also made a couple of strut adjustments.

Im running a BVM third channel, could it need a new o-ring??

Could it be the bearings or o-rings in the motor???

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks

Allen

For starters I would try a different tank. If it hit the beach hard enough to dent it then it's possible the tank sustained internal damage. Been there, done that. Anyone have a known good tank they could let you try? While there are certainly other things it might be it would help to at least eliminate this as one possibility. :)

Lengthen the pipe 1/4".....its unloading slightly in the corners teasing you that it will come on.....or richen up the needle slightly....boat might be slightly out of alignment and causing a slight bit more drag than before....

hi allen try a 1455 or 1457.. i have had excellent results when i used to run sgx ,45 mac ,parabolic pipe set at 9.5 inches, 60% nitro.hope this helps cheers jase

Thanks guys!! Don, in regards to the tank sustaining internal damage. A long time ago I had a Cobra 21 rigger with Mac 21. The boat sat for a very long time and when I finally took it out, it did the same thing. No damage to this one, I ended up selling it and I never found out what the problem was.

Like I said, been there done that. A number of years ago I had my 80 Roadrunner hit the beach because some knucklehead turned on a radio without the clip. Fortunately the boat hit a soft area of the bank and looked fine except for the mud and dirt up to the motor. Checked everything over and nothing, other than a small dent in the tank, was wrong and it even tabled out fine. The next 2 weekends were spent trying to figure out why it would keep falling off pipe, decided to put a different tank in (out of my 60 R/R) and then it ran perfectly. Ordered a new tank and cut the old tank open to find a slightly bent and partially collapsed pick up tube.

If you set the boat back to its pervious settings from when it ran well before it hit the beach then……(i.e. pipe length, prop, fuel flow, and so on.)

First place I’d look is the tank and motor. Like stated above, put in a temporary tank to see if there is an issue, tear the motor down and look for any issues, and lastly look at the drive train for anything that might have been knocked out of whack during the off-pond adventure.

You have a PM , and a good suggestion from Buck to try a different tank even if it is a 4 or 6 oz. this should tell you if the problem is the tank or not

Just want to give everyone an update on this. After changing the fuel line that goes from the tank to the pipe(for some reason I didn't change this initially) and changing both the front plate and carb o-rings, the problem has been solved. I was at the lake today and everything is running fine. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
