Folks

Just wondering my options for my b-mono header hose.

I keep blowing out the silicon header hose after about 3 heats, and its driving me nuts.

Chasing good qualiy header hose, or a place that has a water cooled exhause section i can install.

Also chasing a supplier for the silicon hose thats used in the cmdi billet headers over motor exhaust.

Any one tried 3/4 turbo hose - same stuff used in Turbo engines in cars.

Hope someone can help. Thing the water cooled header might be the trick though. Just dont know if someone makes one of not.

hi dave you have pm mate, jase,,

having burned a lot of silicone connectors, I got ahold of some reinforced heater hose used in ambulances. Two different color layers with webbing in the middle. I have run this stuff with a space between the header and pipe, other than a little crispy surface, the header held for over 6 months. I do not know the official designation but this stuff is only found on ambulances here. I took some to a rubber hose company and they could not locate it. Don't know how much help this is.

Try the hard teflon tube, you get the size that fits or is a bit tighter and then heat with a torch to soften and press it on, once it is heated an fit tight it will last forever. I have used a wire wheel to put a swirl on the header and pipe to let it grip better.

You can get from www.rockectcityracing.com in FLa USA

He has all size silicone and teflon couplers

Mike Hughes on this forum has the best couplers anywhere. I've been running the same coupler on my piped engines for years (no kidding) and never had a falure. There a little expensive but it's a one time buy! Greg

Thanks folks

I am on the case. Got 2 places to get it from not. I try the Australian sorce first and see how that goes but at least i have other sorces if that fails.

One last thing.. Any good sorce for the seal between the motor and the header?

Thanks again folks

Try telescoping your pipe & header together. if you must butt them? PTFE Teflon Is the tubing Phil is speaking of. 1/2 I.d. is the correct size for most 20 pipes & headers. jw

Another thing you mite want to try is wrap a piece of 1/8 soft brass tubing around the header pipe and just J B weld to hold it in place, then run your water line from the head to the brass tube then out.works for me.

I've used these for years and just had my 90 CMB burn a hole right through it . The new ones seem smaller in wall thickness than the originals though .

Tom a cmb 90 with a gap on 60 percent will burn it into. Are you telescoping the pipe into the header or butting? jw

At current my header just sits inside the pipe in my 45

My 21 i needed to make up a spacer so there was no gap between the header and the tunned pipe and this stopped any burning of the header seal pipe where there was not solid material.

Im just getting the 45 pipe way to hot for some reason.

Will look closer at the situation and get to the bottom of it.

David,

I had a similar issue and I had to release some of the back pressure to resolve it.. It was a full nitro pipe but the stinger was just too small. I changed pipes and it went away.

Answering to the question of Mike Hughes and his coupler material. Its some type of NASA rocket science stuff that he can only buy in large quantities. So I just buy it from him 2" at a time and I'm happy with it. Greg

Grim,

Yeah i have the AB parabolic 45, and the stinger is drilled out. Use to go like a bat out of hell before it was drilled. Now its drilled ive had to do the head clearance again and its going well with this minor issue.

Greg,

I will get onto Mike H in time. I have got 2 other local sources that i will try first and if that fails then i'll get onto him.
