Hi guy's ,

i was searching through the topics about the setup for a twin rigger.....and what i was wondering about is that you read in many topics: " first of all you need to use good needles "

but what do they mean by that......a good needle setup...or good quality needles...???

p.s. sorry for perhaps a stupid question....

Chris,

It means a high quality brand of needle and not a cheap one. Some good ones are the CMDi's and Don Ferrette's bases which use the OS remote needle assembly. Many use the Bob Violet purple ones as well but you need the change the internal o rings yearly in them as they tend to leak. All three are remote 3rd channel needle assemblies.

Intent of the comment was not to scrimp on the needle - get good quality ones and get them identical. With a twin you are chasing enough gremlins without adding more.

And another thing about chasing those gremlins, You might be better off using regular third channel needles. Such as the big k&b needles or the black O.S. needles or even the big cmb needles. Going from mechanical needles to third channel remote needles can sometimes cause more gremlins than they solve. Just from my own experiences, I'm not an expert or anything.

Hi Guy's,

here's a pic from one off the needles that came with the enginers ( CMB 91HR ) .

please correct me if i'm wrong but isn't it so that you NEED to use a 3rd channel setup with a twin setup....because thay told me:

a nitro engine doesn't have a pump in the carb. so thats why we use a nipple in the exhaust and " push " the ful to the carb.

when the contents of the tanks becomes less,it get difficult to get the fuel to the carb, thays why you should use a 3-rd channel mixture in the

fuel supply to the carb. so during a run you can set the mixture richer......but i've also read some topics that they don't use a 3-rd channel mixture control.....????

No, you dont NEED to run 3rd channel on a twin or on anything for that matter. It is a huge plus though if you can hear the engines well while in the water, but on the flip side if you cant hear the engines well your gunna take a lot of plugs and have some unhappy engines.

Thanks for the quick reply's.

but.....if you DON'T need a 3-rd channel mixture control-setup to run a twin rigger, why do others still choose to run a 3-rd channel setup...and when you choose to run a 3-rd channel on 2 motors, isn't it so that every 3-rd channel-needle needs a separate servo.....so you need 4 channel to run the boat...or am am wrong about that....?

Not necessarily. I run 3rd channel needles in my twin and only use three servos.

Regards and Welcome aboard,
