What are our options for plugs these days?
Seems people frantically buy McCoy when they pop up, I prefer O'Donnell.
What are you using that's available and in what engine, fuel % combination?
Is O'Donnell still making plugs?

I’ve been using 289/289T’s in all my engines .21-1.01 on 40%-60% nitro with 18% oil.
I have some of Al’s Rossi plugs to try but haven’t yet.

Are they similar to the gold plugs, I think they were 09's?

I run the O'donnell 287T for 21's and 289 Standards for everything else 45,67,80,91's.

Has anyone ran Al's plugs ?. I have a bunch I ordered last year but haven't had a chance to try them out. I think they are r5 and r6 The elements look thick compared to my OS #8 plugs. I am hoping they work good on my 21 engines which is mainly what I like running.

The R5 is a great .21 plug
The R6 for .45 and up

I have been running the Rossi plugs for 40 years. Use the R6 for the big motors 60 and above and the R4 for the small motors 45 and below.

R4, R5, K&B 1L, odonnel 287

.45 and up
R6, R7, K&B HP, odonnel 289

But I know many that run the same plug in all size motors.

The R4 is a good .21 plug as is the R5. With that low of nitro the R4 may be better for you.

I have some engines that have the turbo head and he only had rt5 . I might have to sell these and find a different plug if they don't work. hmm

A couple of years ago I bought some Fox miracle plugs from my LHS. I needed a few plugs that weekend and that was the only plugs they have.

I do not race. Run 25% Omega. The Fox plugs worked well for me. FWIW

I am only fun running as well. 30 percent car fuel is easiest to find around here and I just add oil to it. I haven't found any high nitro in the Kansas city area yet. I don't think it exists here .

Heat range is small.

Ran standard OD287's for years but the dyno said a colder plug made more HP so I've switched to the 289.

The 287 and even the 277 work better when the air temps get below 10C/50F.
