Hi terry, yes, it was early 90's, maybe 1991 or 92. memories. I believe the boat came up on shore and hit a tree stump. Is there a stump on land to the left of Pinckerts Point? made a hell of a sound. Pictures of some aluminum riggers to be posted on this thread soon . one of them is the battered record boat hull. still trying to aquire record passes on video. nice to talk to you after all this time. if you can remember, can you confirm that the picco hydro 90 was un-modified except for aero-marine drum rotor? I remember you tore it down in the motel room and was surprised it was stock. again, nice talking with you, terry. regards, john
John, It must have been late 1992 that you got that record. I had set it right at 90mph at the Huntsville Internats in the Summer of 92. Also using Picco Hydro 90s in a Twin Eagle.

I had forgotten that any other boat other than one of my boats had held the F hydro record since 1988 when Joe Ingrao got the record with a Mongoose. Your Fusion boat is the only other boat to have held the record in F Hydro since 1988. But I do remember now! Doc Turner was the first to set the F Hydro record when IMPBA cleared the books and switched to the eletronic system. I think Doc used a Twin Coyote with Rossi 80's.

I finally removed the turn fin in 1997. That was the big step that boosted us over 100. Up until then we had gotten to 98mph with a full race turn fin.

The speeds will continue upward! Fun stuff!

Yup, think it hit something, memory is a little fuzzy.

Do remember that motor was stock tho, very innovative to mechanically tie the turn fin with the rudder to lift it up for the pass. I'm sure that made the difference as Andy mentions.

Please post the video when you get it!

I remember seeing one run at Lamb's Farm.

Bob that is not my boat. Mine had yellow sponsons with Moon Eyes on it.

Bill that was mine that I raced at Lambs farm. That was a nice pond to race at. I remember seeing a boat hit the ski ramp there.

Here's that handsome young man (Ken) with his Fusion Welding Rigger
