My sport40 has two 6oz tanks, one on the right and one on the left. They are postioned about 6" in back of the motor. The engine is very hard to get a consistant needle. I have ruled out the engine since it ran great in a different boat. Sometimes the boat goes 65mph, sometimes it goes 10mph. Has to be in the tanks..I have tried everything else. Anyone have first hand experience?

Move your tanks to the front of the engine, glue them together, Make yourself a platform to hold the tanks, place platform no more than 4in in front of the motor on the bottom of the boat, you can silicone platform in place or use shoegoo, keep boat balance in mind. You are trying to push fuel against gravity.

My Phil Thomas Sport 40 has the tank in the nose like Bill said. But, I like one tank 12 or 14oz rather than two, so far one has been good enough. The other thing I had a problem with was not keeping my line as short as possible between the third needle and the carb, the shrtness prevents air bubbles in the line.

P-Wizz,

That's for fueling the tanks and emptying them only rather than making the fuel go from the tank to the carb.

Oooo ic  sorry haha, there were fuel pumps in RCCA that were meant to pump fuel into the carb. I dont know the name of the company though. But i know they have them, so if the problems continue, you may want to get one I dont know. :p

Phil <_<

Would this be a MAC, sounds as though fuel draw can be an issue with them.

Have you space for a header tank?

Could you try a different carb with a smaller bore to improve fuel draw.

MAC or CMB, it doesn't make a difference. I am going to run from one tank with a 1oz in front of the carb to see if that works. I will let you guys know.

On my 20 I am running a two tank set-up. The tanks have no sump so I feed them into a small clunk tank.

I run pressure from the pipe to a T piece and into the two tanks. The Fuel line from the tanks is again joined with a T piece and feeds the clunk tank.

With this set-up I am getting consitent running and normally can run the tanks dry (needle settings tend to be a little less critical on low nito). On the last couple of circuits I find the engine runs a little uneven as the fuel level in the clunk tank gets low.

I've included a picture of my set-up.

I've been wandering if I can fit a float chamber into my Sport 40, mounted correctly their is no better way of getting consitent fueling. Will be a while before I have the 40 completed but if I do mange to squeze in a float chamber I will let you know how it goes.
