After you get the hack installed on the 3B or the 3C you will need to set up one additional thing to allow your channel 3 (mixture) to travel the full sweep. Here is the step by step to do that:

Scroll to REV, press and hold enter for 1-2 seconds // Access the Key Mapping Menu Scroll to 3, press enter // Selecting the CH3 trim switch Scroll to CH3, press enter // Select CH3 to control with above switch Scroll to BAR, press enter // Select Auto-Repeat as the control type Scroll to 1, press enter // Select 1% as the channel step rate Press and hold enter, then press end afew times // Exit the menu

I did the hack, and this exercise.. and now I cannot get any servo travel at all. just a twitch when I turn it on..

Now I cannot get the guy to respond to me at all for help. The receiver binds,.. the software update says verified and complete..

I plug in the servos.. nothing on any channel..

clearly I have done something wrong,.. but I am not a programmer or electronics guy at all.. I have the radio and 3 receives.. paper weights at the moment..

I just finished one for a buddy. I will be happy to finish the project for you if you want to send it.

Marty,.

I've got one person that is going to try and help me through it.. if I can't get it I'll take you up on you kind offer.. Did you have this problem? All I did was the flash, then the 3rd channel mod... and nothing works.

Do you think I should flash it again?

Hi Marty,

I have a FS- IT4 with two receivers and all telemetry stuff. Bought new from Brian Watts. I charged battery off computer and that's all.

I will not use. If you know someone who would like a deal. I paid $189.99 with tax&shipping. I'll sell for $150.00.

I was told to change models, I need to rebind every time. True? Or do you know a trick?

Thank You,

Bill

I heard that this was a problem with the 4 channel. I really like the telemetry stuff that is available for the radio but couldn't stand the rebinding thing.

Be sure that you have a battery that is charged. I had that problem once and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Flashed it several times with no luck. It was just the battery.

Marty,

So after the flash, the throttle and rudder do not need to be programmed. They should work normally, right?

Thanks for the honest answer Marty. That's my problem. I'll stick to my 3PK 2.4 FASST system.

Thank You and Happy Holidays,

Bill

You bind the receiver once and it is set.

FYI, I just contacted Austin Hutchinson the writer of the new firmware to ask about the 4 channel radio with the telemetry options. He said he has no plans to work onthe firmware for that radio.

Anthony:

Here is something that you might have missed.

When you are flashing the new firmware you need to go to Program Memory tab and load the firmware. Then choose the Program Tab and then Address Range. Choose start at 8000 and end to E70F. The press OK. This might be what you missed.

Marty,

I used "8000" start and "E861" end per Austin on the GT3B's is it different for the GT3C's?

Anthony, I sent you a pm this a.m. and left you a v-mail on your cell. Sorry we didn't get back north until late last night. (too late to call then)

Thanks, John

Hi Anthony,

If you p.m. me your e-mail address, I'll send you the info/manual files I have. Or, I would think they are available at the new "Overkillrc.com" website. I can't recall how I got mine, maybe Austin sent them to me with the mod kit.

Thanks, John

Well guys ,.. Here is what happened.. The guy at overkill RC made a special instruction sht for the GT3c,.. in that sheet he left off the section on setting the programming range. It is actually in the other the original programming instruction sht. That is what I did not do.

Now when I look back on this,.. it is VERY VERY easy to reprogram this radio if you have a little help. John and I walked through it last night and all the things I did were correct with the exception of leaving out the range setting. The set up of the radio is a little tough because everything is abbreviated and there is not a super simple book with instructions.. you have to think about it but after you get it, you get it..

The radio now has all the functions I could need in a boat. Lipo battery pack, linear 3rd, expo, binds multiple receivers and you don't have to rebind between models..

I am changing all my boats over to this radio,.. on another note.. I have installed a couple Tactic servos, the high torque version.. I think this is also a very good value for the money. I don't have alot of time on the servo but it's very stable and centers great.. very strong..

Ive never been a high end radio guy.. but this now has most of the features of a high end radio and the cost is really low. The receivers are very small, the the 2.4g reception is great..

So are these radios just good for the price for a 2.4 radio?

I don't understand buying a radio that you have to modify to perform good. How come they don't come like that from the factory? Is the people that write the hack work for the company that makes the radio?
